Pro Bowl defensive end Julius Peppers signing with the Chicago Bears is imminent, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday, citing an unnamed source.

The paper also said the Bears will hold a news conference later Friday to announce the singing of Peppers, running back Chester Taylor and tight end Brandon Manumaleuna.

New England and Philadelphia have also made a push for Peppers, but Chicago is offering a higher annual salary, the Sun-Times said.

Report: Bears likely to sign Peppers, C. Taylor

I'm real excited to see the Bears spending money. We'll see how it works out this year.  Now I want to see them get a safety. Maybe Ryan Clark?  I'm fine if they hold pat with the OL and WR because they made some changes towards the end of the year that didn't look too bad. Give Chris Williams a full year at LT and see how he does. He pretty much cancelled out Jared Allen at the end of the year in that game.  Also Give Cutler a full year with Aromashodu and a year under the belt of Knox should help him alot. Let Hester slowly move back to being a KR.

AGAIN,

Yes, there is no cap THIS year. But if they hammer out a new CBA by NEXT year, there WILL be a cap. And that's a problem when you have one player locked up for 15 - 20 million per year for 5 - 6 years, especially if it's a make or break player like peppers.

This becomes a major problem when you have to have another 52 players signed to your roster when you do have a cap.

Better win it all this year Chicago. Good luck.

Obviously time will tell.  If he helps the Bears D in getting back to prominance with double digit sacks he will be well worth the money.  His talent is basically what the Bears have been missing, especially Tommie Harris.  With them two side by side it will be like the tandem a few years back of Warren Sapp and Simeon Rice.  I wouldn't worry about him being baggage...no matter what profession your in, everybody gets tired of their same employer over time so a change will be great for him and the Bears...

Chicago sure must like Carolina's talent.  Ricky Manning Jr., Mushin Muhammed and now Pep.

Trade for Brandon Marshall.  I'm sure Denver will be willing to take a 2nd rounder for him.

Have you read what WILL happen when the CBA gets done? You can't just spend, spend, spend. If you do, you will pay the bill when it comes. Like the 49ers did after their Super Bowl years. When this deal does get done the teams that are not financially responsible WILL be held responsible. So, in effect, you will mortgage your future on this year. ESPN the magizine had a great article on it.

I think it would take more than a third round pick to get Boldin
