Pro Bowl defensive end Julius Peppers signing with the Chicago Bears is imminent, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday, citing an unnamed source.

The paper also said the Bears will hold a news conference later Friday to announce the singing of Peppers, running back Chester Taylor and tight end Brandon Manumaleuna.

New England and Philadelphia have also made a push for Peppers, but Chicago is offering a higher annual salary, the Sun-Times said.

Report: Bears likely to sign Peppers, C. Taylor

With the signing of Brandon Manumaleuna (sp?) I would like to see the Bears package Greg Olsen and Devin Hester for a 1st rd pick, and use that to get Brandon Marshall.

Then, starting in the draft with their 3rd, get the best available OL available.

I am Panthers fan.  You can have Peppers.  Thanks for taking him off our hands.  Enjoy the fact that he takes plays "off" and will, as you say, eat up CRAZY cap space.

Bears are in it for real next year if they get these guys signed.  The question is QB - does Jay Cutler come around and who does he throw to?

Yay, win now! Ignore the fact that a new CBA and cap the following year will cripple our team. Hence the essence of Chicago sports fans, all heart, no brains.

Big signing, at least it showing that their doing making a substantial effort to put a good product on the field.  All we need it Ryan Clark or Oshiomogho Atogwe and we have a great defense again.  I also wouldn't mind trading Greg Olsen, the guy hasn't lived up to the hype, and now that we have a blocking TE I wouldn't mind us trading him for a WR.  Also the O Line needs to be shored up with those adjustments; Safety first, WR next, and O Line we should contend once again.  Its also all on the coaches to make sure the D lives up to the money spent and that Cutler shows considerable change.

Good job Bears. Now go get a safety! I can live with our wideouts. The crew overall is deep, talented, and raw.  If you want to trade for and pay Boldin, I'm fine with that. It all makes it a little easier to handle the price increase of my season tickets...

I think Im more excited about what Taylor is going to give us. Should be fun, now lets go get some secondary. Who knows about the Oline though probably our biggest need.

I love this deal for the Bears, it will make that d-line better than it already is and if the pats can't get peppers go to chicago best of luck.
