Pro Bowl defensive end Julius Peppers signing with the Chicago Bears is imminent, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday, citing an unnamed source.

The paper also said the Bears will hold a news conference later Friday to announce the singing of Peppers, running back Chester Taylor and tight end Brandon Manumaleuna.

New England and Philadelphia have also made a push for Peppers, but Chicago is offering a higher annual salary, the Sun-Times said.

Report: Bears likely to sign Peppers, C. Taylor

That is assuming that there is cap space to eat up.... at this point in time teams are over-spending (with some of the back-loaded contracts that players/teams signed in years past) assuming that no collective bargaining agreement will be reached and this year will remain un-capped

Shift in the balance of power?

Wow - big signing for the Bears.  Adding Julius Peppers to an already stout defense that will be welcoming back Brian Urlacher (their heart and soul) is HUGE.  Chester Taylor will be a nice counterbalance to Matt Forte, who is not an every down kind of guy.  Now if they could add a big time wideout for Jay Cutler to throw to - they will be a tough team to match up with and more difficult to score on.

Trade for Boldin sounds good to me.  Signing TO might not be bad deal, either.

Not Sure How To Feel

Does Pepper make the Bear's better, sure.  Do we need a pass rusher, no doubt.  Is Peppers worth the money he will require from the Bears, I really don't know.  He's 30 yrs old, is a "me guy", and will eat up CRAZY cap space.
