Crazy time in sports history

Posted on: July 18, 2011 8:09 pm
What a crazy time in sports history.  In one of the worst economies in most of our lives, we have athletes making more money than ever before.  Somehow we are still able to find money to buy our favorite player or team jersey.  We complain about $4 per gallon gas but buy $7 cans of beer without thinking twice.
Athletes are being called before congress on drug related issues and then tried in criminal court for lying about it.  We have Billionaires locking out their Millionaire athletes from coming to work.  Top NBA stars threatening to take overseas contracts and a poker tournament in Las Vegas that will pay the winner over $8mm.
It is a crazy time I say

Crazy time in sports history

Very true Hacknslice,
These programs all just thought they were above the law.  You would think after the USC Trojans got busted that would have been a wake up call but the arrogance is extreme.  Now you have current Trojans players making joke about making more money at USC than in the pros.  What are these people thinking.
Jim Tressel has been a cheater since his early days in coaching.  This should surprise no one and the Buckeyes are about to pay a GIGANTIC price in my opinion.  I look for this to be the most severe punishment ever handed down.  It has to stop somewhere.

Crazy time in sports history

Nice piece, Snapper.

I would add the rapid fire pace of NCAA programs coming under fire for rules violations.
