REDSKINS IN DRAFT AND FREE AGENCY

Posted on: March 5, 2009 2:12 pm

Redskins Draft (Only have 4 picks)  and 11.1 Million in cap room...I feel as though we have some options

Option 1 - Trade down in the first round for a later 1st round and another pick...this will give us an additional pick as well as still get a player that would help us now.

Option 2 - remain silent in free agency and just try to draft the best we can with the information we have and add the players that will plug the immediate holes.  Those spots are DE, OLD, RB, and OT.

I feel as though we need to plug in two spots with free agents and draft effectively this year.

MY PROPOSAL:  PROVIDING THE CAP ROOM AND WHAT CONTRACT IS NEOGOTIATED

Either Acquire: OT Kalif Barnes (4yrs exp) 4 yr starter-will help aging OLINE and has potential to be starter.  We can fill a gap and not draft a OLINE in draft.

Acquire: OLB Cato June (6yrs exp) solid tackler with good history and performance or OLD Kevin Burnett (4Yrs exp) from Dallas who is a good tackler and could fill in as a starter...Both could help us out immediately and thus saving a pick in the draft for other positions.

With any additions of these players suggested we could use our picks in 2009 draft smarter and not because of immediate need.

WE DEFINATLY need a backup RB to spell Portis- Maybe Javon Ringer could fall to 3rd rd and has been heralded as a STAR!!!

I definately think we need to draft a DE early  and if we trade down we would be able to get a speed rusher who could help on the end...Maybe Brian Orakpo DE -Texas 6'3 263 4.63 40yrd dash (proj 1st rd), Michael Johnson DE-Georgia tech 6'7 266 4.68 40yrd dash (proj 1/2) Lawernce Sidbury DE-Richmond 6'3 266 4.57 40 yrd dash (proj3/4), Robert ajer DE-Tenn 6'3 272 4.77 40yrd dash (proj 2nd  rd)
