Forever Hopeful!!

Posted on: August 1, 2009 11:38 am
Mets fans lived in hope for one week as the team went on a 5 game winning streak!! As a die hard NY Mets fan we all realize that the season is over. Yet we continue to tune in to watch with hope that the injured will return and we can make yet another miracle comeback.  During the middle of the winning streak we sat with baited breath as the division was washed away with the continuing winning by the Phillies, but the wild card came into view as while playing the Rockies we began to make up ground. With bounces off bases going directly to players and being turned into double plays, we thought it was now our turn to make up ground and move up the ladder. But now two days later and losing both games we once again are waking up to the fact that this is at best a 500 team.

While some may still hold out hope that we can turn it around as the front office tells us that 3 of our 4 major injured players should be back within the next two weeks I believe I for one have decided that there is no hope for this year. I continue to watch and hope and will be anticipating the return of Delgado, Beltran and Reyes. But the front office has given up hope this year by not doing anything at the trade deadline. How as NY Mets fans can we continue to hope if the front office (rumors) pass up on the likes of Halliday, Lee and Martinez. Prospects are just that prospects who should be given up for proven players.

May 2009 be a distant memory soon and we can look forward to the off season and the rebuilding of our beloved Mets for 2010.

Forever Hopeful!!

I see in the METS WEBSITE and in MLB RUMORS that there might be some METS scouts interested in GUTHRIE. We definately have chips to make that happen and maybe a bid bat too

I was thinking that the Mets would screw up, but again they seem to suprise people. I think New York fans are the most faithful to ther teams even if there teams arnt doing so good. Right now I can not make any predictions on how the Mets are going to do the rest of the way because they always have something up their sleeves. If it was a little bit earlier in the season I would have said " Not counting on the Mets to put up a good race for the championship", but now I really dont know. Think they can keep it up?. Thats the real question.

Right now as you know too the Mets season is pretty much over. But you never know. For sports ive always gone with the saying " its never over till its over", so maybe that will happen this year with the Mets. I know the feeling too, I am a Blue jays fan, and I always will be even if they suck. The reason this is happening for your Mets is because of the injuries. If the MEts were healthy theyd be putting up a good fight right now. But there is still a whole lot of games left.

I like hwne people stand up for their team even though they might not be having the best season. :D

Forever Hopeful!!

A Giant fan and a Mets fan, you have had back to back miserable seasons.  Welcome to my world.  A giants fan going back to '56' and a Mets fan from day one, their day one, not mine.  I know the NYMs will be better and I believe will be a playoff team.  The Giants have gotten old at LB and on the O Line.  The 'D' secondary is average.  2010 may not be a Giant year.

Fore I kow it's frustrating,as a Jays fan I've been waiting since 94 for the team to contend, they don' but i still watch, your injuries have been brutal almost impossible to replace 30% of your offense, with Delgado,Beltran and Reyes out plus the park seems to play like a pitcher's park, think it's affected Wright's numbers..keep the faith.
