JeterDerek Jeter's final workout in Florida was canceled by rain Friday, but he did spend 30 minutes indoors training, the Associated Press reports. Now, Jeter will begin the second phase of his rehab from a strained right calf.

Next up is a two-game stint with the Double-A Trenton Thunder, with Jeter expected to return to the Yankees on Monday. Jeter is six hits away from 3,000 for his career but at this point would need a scorching series in Cleveland to reach the milestone on the road. The odds are that Jeter gets his 3,000th hit at home at some point from Thursday through Sunday against the Rays in the final four games prior to the All-Star break.

Jeter will be facing the Altoona Curve, the Double-A affiliate of the Pirates. The Curve's most famous player is probably catcher Tony Sanchez, who was drafted with the No. 4 overall pick in 2009 and currently hitting .248/.351/.322.

Joining Jeter in Thunder uniforms will be Dellin Betances, who throws Friday night and could be part of the Yankees rotation before Jeter retires, along with rotationmate Manny Banuelos. On offense, catcher Austin Romine is the biggest name; Romine could end up the long-term catcher for New York although Jesus Montero (Triple-A) and Gary Sanchez (Class A) may have something to say about that.
