The Rangers have found the culprit of the leak of Ron Washington's pregame speech before Game 7 of the World Series, but have not said whether that employee was fired, according to Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The employee, a member of the team's traveling support staff, sent it to a friend, who then sent it on with it ending up on the website JoeSportsFan.com, a blog for a St. Louis radio station on Sunday.

"It's unacceptable," Rangers general manager Jon Daniels told the newspaper. "It's a private meeting for the team, and a privilege to be a part of and a privilege to be in the clubhouse and have access to it. Very poor judgment. That's not what the meeting was for."

The speech contained quite a few nasty words from Washington, along with speeches from Michael Young, Ian Kinsler and Nelson Cruz. Washington urged his team to move on from the Game 6 loss and stick together to beat the Cardinals in Game 7.

Washington was reportedly at home in New Orleans this weekend with his mother, Fannie Washington, who died on Sunday at 90.

If he wasn't fired then he damn well ought to be, where was his alligance? To the Cards?
Somethings are sacred as is a pep talk by the coach or manager of any team in any sport, microphones and cameras are just to invasive these days, but you would think that what was said in a locker room stays in the locker room!

If anyone's tenderness has been bruised by this verbage, don't google Augie Garrido's post game rants from the college ranks. You might just seek out a priest.

Rangers employee leaked Washington's speech

Anyone that is getting upset over this "story" does not know anything about sports.  This kind of speech happend in High School and it happens in College and everywhere.  This is not a story and is just part of the game.

For the most part I would agree with those claiming this is a non story.  Speeches like this happen every day and aren't just limited to the locker room.  The content of the speech and its release had no effect on the game and ulitimately won't have any reprecussions for the manager.

The only thing that makes this a story is the issue of the breach of trust that has occurred.  I don't agree with the comparisons made to Washington's and Hamilton's drug use.  Their transgressions may have broken a "trust" the team had in them to stay clean, but it's a significantly different kind of trust we're talking about.  It's one thing to do something that affects someone and another to do something specifically against that person.  For instance, if my son does something bad it's a reflection on me and it hurts me indirectly.  If he does something bad to me intentionally, it hurts my relationship and trust in him to a much greater sense even if the latter offense may have been even a lesser offense.  In this case the lesser offense was sharing the tape.

Despite the fact that there were probably over 30 men in the room, this was a private meeting.  I can only assume all of us have moments we wish would remain private.  It has become a troubling trend that many private moments are now becoming entertainment for everyone to see or hear.  To me, that is the bigger issue here.

Christ, skreffty, talk about a false analogy! Washington's past use of drugs, to which he owned and admitted, occurred during his youth. He violated no one's privacy and did not violate the cardinal rule of the clubhouse--"What is said here, stays here." I really cannot believe you would come up with such an absurd comparison, unless you yourself have been sniffing something this morning.
Um, he tested positive WITH the Rangers in 2009.  Dude, where have you been?  I notice how you give Hamilton a free pass.  If anyone is doing any sniffing around here, it is you sonofcatocailin.  No cure for stupid...

So let me get this straight, leaking a mere speech is grounds for dismissal, but using illegal drugs, includuding cocaine, is cause for promotion, for both players and the manager.  Nice priorities Rangers

Hahahaha...good point!
