Favre, his ankle ditch reporters

B. Favre works out with the Oak Grove High School team (AP) If his reporter-dodging skills are any indication, it seems that Vikings QB Brett Favre’s surgically-repaired ankle is feeling just fine.

According to this Associated Press story , Favre spotted reporters waiting by his truck as he worked out with the Oak Grove High School football team Monday morning, and instead of bull-rushing his way into the driver’s seat, he sent somebody else to drive his truck to a less media-friendly area.

Not anything too newsworthy in the story, but the scene-setting lede was a funny one. Currently, Favre is expected to return for his 20th season.

Though the will-he-retire-or-won’t-he Favre storyline – the same theme that’s seemingly played year after year after year – might annoy some fans (OK, just about every fan), former Cowboys star WR Michael Irvin can sympathize.

"You can't blame him," Irvin told reporters last week. "I tell people all the time. Don't be stupid. Don't allow your ego to make you walk away from the greatest thing you will ever experience. The unity of walking onto a football field with 52 other guys, you have one purpose, one goal and one heartbeat. Wow, what a feeling.

"You make them drag you off the field. You will never have this again in your life."
