According to a report from ESPN's John Clayton, the Buffalo Bills and rookie running back C.J. Spiller have reached an agreement on a deal that will get Spiller into camp as early as Friday, while also making him wealthy individual. (And making Russell Okung the only unsigned rookie from the 2010 first round remaining.)

Clayton originally reported on the radio this morning that it was "likely" Spiller would sign Friday, and if his source is correct, that has happened.

The deal is reportedly a five-year contract worth $25 million total, with $20.8 million guaranteed (last year's No. 9 overall, B.J. Raji received a five-year deal worth $28.5 million overall/$18 million guaranteed).

For further context, Tyson Alualu -- the 10th overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft -- received $28 million total and $18 million guaranteed from the Jaguars, while Rolando McClain -- the 8th overall pick  -- received a five-year, $40 million overall/$23 million guaranteed deal from the Raiders.

In other words, Spiller took a little less total money while opting for more guaranteed money (provided, again, that the report is true).

Which makes him the complete opposite of the freshly-paid Andre Johnson.

The Bills should have a release on the news soon, and we'll keep you updated -- it would also seem logical that Spiller, because of his versatility, has a slew of incentives in his contract, relating to total yards gained, etc., etc.

Update (12:10): Looks like the "incentives" portion we mentioned above is a strong likelihood -- the AP is now reporting that Spiller's contract has a maximum value of $37.5 million, which is a pretty solid raise from the original report of $25 million.

However, the Bills, according to Rapid Reporter Mark Ludwiczak , didn't comment about the Spiller signing following early practice. Chan Gailey is scheduled to address the media following the evening session, though, so we should hear something relatively soon.

I don't know about the $ he is getting, but then again all the rookies are getting overpaid these days. Thats why the safe pick is always the O and D line early... and maybe the best pick too. I will say one thing about Spiller, and that is when you bring in a guy that the opposing team has to game-plan totally different for... it changes things dramatically.

I watched a game last year when he was injured and still playing. Can't remember exactly but he ended up with one of his 250+ yard games.. injured. He was beating CBs around the corner while limping. It really said a lot about him as a player. One.. he was injured which is common for his style of player. Two, he won't be sitting pine when he has minor injuries, and will probably be forced to sit when they are more serious.

I think we all hope and dream that one day one of these days a player will play like Barry... but thats not likely to ever happen again.

Additionally, why pay 5 years 25 million to an OL man that could turn into the next Mike Williams, you know the draft that set the team back for another 5 years.  This team developed Jason Peters into an All Pro, what's not to say we can't develop someone else, in which case we're a QB away from being respectable....and if Trent Edwards ever went back to playing like he did in September/October of 08, we already have one of those

You take the best available player.  This team is not a year away.  Only someone that thinks that drafting an OL and QB in the same draft and that we'd compete by this season is the actual idiot.  This is step one in a long process of getting back to being respectable.  I firmly believe that the reason the Bills didn't take a QB this year was because they have one targeted in 2011
