Favre tells Longwell he's still undecided

This "news" probably should have been included in the Hot Routes this morning, but whatevs -- it's Favre and you know you love it. Apparently, Favre talked with kicker Ryan Longwell (they go way back from their Green Bay days) and told him what the dealio was on his status for 2010.

And you'll never guess this, but Favre still doesn't know ! Which gives him something in common with Loki the Octopus . Except everything with Favre is dependent on his ankle, duh.

"I guess the thing is, from talking to him, the big issue is everybody knows he had the surgery on his shoulder last year and that was kind of three weeks out and he was zinging the ball around with little or no pain," Longwell said. "So he's had bad ankles over the years, and everybody knows that. He thought that the ankle would recover, kind of like the arm did last year, and unfortunately it just hasn't."

Honestly, expecting an ankle to recover like a shoulder is about as logical as expecting Brett Favre to make a decision before the end of August. So, for now, let's just hold our breath until it's time for an Albert Haynesworth post. Oh, right. That's now.

It's one thing to play 11 on 11 football and lose a close game.  But to have to play the refs too...you're asking a lot.  Any Saints fans who think the Saints won that game fairly, is mistaken.  Now, I'm not saying the Saint's couldn't have beat the Vikes, but the Vikes had the Saint's against the wall.  multiple low shots on Favre, never called; pass interference, not called.  It was a good game and had the Vikes not made mistakes they would have won convincingly, but the Saints capitalized on bad calls.  Like the Seahawks though, we won't hear an apology for a few years after the statute of limitations expires on "BAD CALLS"!

I wish to say something good about Farve,

1. - Let me see.....
2. - Okay I am thinking
3. - it's not as easy as it sounds
4. - I give up
5. - On another note the Vikings are still a playoff team with Jackson or Rosenfels at QB.

No insult left unthrown...

I wish to say something mean and awful about Bret Favre that hasn't already been said. However...

Viking's Fan's in a WIN-WIN Situation?

Besides the fact that if Favre doesn't return, the SB chances are screwed, the fans of that team are in the best position they could ask for. If he comes back and they have a good season, they are ecstatic. Childress looks like the smartest and most patient guy around, and their team wins and sticks it to the doubters again. If Favre comes back and has a bad year, they get to blame the ankle, his missing camp and the coach who is basically being tugged around on a leash by this guy. If he doesn't come back, expectations are phenomenally lower, if they get to the playoffs its a win, they get to hate Favre like the good old days for abandoning the team, and they can blame the coach for not having a backup plan.
So basically, no matter what happens this season, they have a novel's worth of excuses and what if's to blame the season on. Of course no fan is going to admit that, and they all will be disappointed with a bad year, but really, with an uncertain future, you can't ask for more as a fan. Things go well, your teams is great and coaching is smart. Things go bad, you have specific things and people to blame. Nothing's worse for a fan than being unsure about the upcoming season and having nothing but bad play to blame for it.

I'm sorry, did no one see this coming?  It was obvious with the timing of the ankle surgery that he was having the surgery so he could use it as an excuse not to attend training camp.

This has been a big smoke screen.  I cant believe how many people are getting their undies in a bunch over this.  Get over it already, Favre is Favre and will make it to MN when he is good and ready, and the people of MN will love it because without him they are stuck with T-Jack (off) and fumbling AP.

Favre's waiting until after the Week 1 game vs. the Saints. Those mean boys gave him a boo boo.
