Jets say 'no excuse' for 'selfish' Braylon arrest

Okay, it's only a report technically, since the public feelings expressed by the Jets have all been pretty positive, but apparently Braylon Edwards' teammates are pretty cheesed at him.

Which is mildly understandable, obviously.

The New York Post reports that one teammate called Edwards "selfish." The paper also offered up some pretty specific quotes from an unnamed player.

"This is the last thing we need right now," one Jets player told The Post. "We have a big game against Miami this week, don't we? We should be concentrating on Miami Dolphins, not answering questions about [Edwards' arrest]. This is an unnecessary distraction."

"He's got to know better than this," the player said. "There's a program in place for this. Every player knows about it so there's no excuse for something like this to happen."

The Jets are absolutely correct to be angry at Edwards for this mess. Drunk driving isn't acceptable in the first place, but hopping into a car in a city that features more taxicabs than the population of most other urban areas and cruising around with a blood-alcohol level that's twice the legal limit when your team offers a taxi service to its players is just way beyond irresponsible.

Limo service before hand: yes. 6'4 black man on the West Side flagging down a cab at 5am: not gonna stop anyway.

Jets say 'no excuse' for 'selfish' Braylon arrest

The Jets simply are afraid of not having him available for Sunday night. Just come out and say it, not hide behind some bogus union garbage. - No where has it been reported that the Jets are not holding him out of the game because of the union. Reporters have surmised that. Haters have latched on to that. But the Jets front office hasn't said a WORD about the union and their response to the situation. Fact check on aisle 4.

Yall need to quit bashing this dude,  Yes, they have a program to assist these gentlemen in getting home,  but when your drunk its hard to think rationally.  Who was with him, why didnt they stop him from driving.  About 5 million people a year get arrested for drunk driving and Im sure you know someone that has been arrested for driving and  I bet u dont go around talking about your friend on message boards about them driving drunk..the law wil deal with him, leave it at that

What I found amazing today was that the Jets will not start Edwards Sunday, but they'll eventually play him. They backed away from taking him out of the game because of some union technicalities. Hey, as long as Edwards is getting paid, the union has no business interfering with the Jets. The Jets could simply not dress him for the Miami game. They don't owe anyone an explanation for not suiting him up. Edwards isn't getting docked.

Looks like Mangini was right about one thing. - Pretty glaring endorsement for a hot-seat coach who can't seem to pick a QB or win a game.Get Danny Woodhead, the Chrebet reincarnatuon, back out there. - It's kind of old news but the New England Patriots have already signed Woodhead.
Don't just blame Braylon since D'Brickashaw and Gholston were both with him. Blame Rex who is losing the lockerroom quicker than a tourist loses his wallet in a Times Square New Year's Eve celebration.
Don't go patting Mangini on the back for roster moves. The last I recall he let Vilma go (to SB champs), lobbied to get Brett Favre to use the Jets like sloppy seconds and named his child after him, and can't seem to generate offense for any NFL team.

The NFL does have that such thing. It's called the Player Protection Act. Basically you go out, have a few drinks, and can't drive home the players are suppose to call someone. It is suppose to be confidential between the player and  the team and this idiot didn't use it.
