The Seattle Seahawks have confirmed they’ve signed veteran wide receiver Brandon Stokley. Because Stokley has been around 12 years, he’s officially the last white receiver in NFL history to not draw comparisons to Wes Welker.B. Stokley

Stokley began the year as a Bronco but was unable to make the 53-man roster. The Seahawks are always making changes (or strongly contemplating changes) at the receiver position, so no personnel move here should come as a surprise.

Our Seahawks Rapids Reporter thinks the addition of Stokley may just be a sign that the team anticipates Mike Williams missing some action. (Williams suffered a shoulder injury in Week 3.)

The Seahawks already have two receivers – Deion Branch and Golden Tate – capable of handling the slot duties that Stokley mastered as Colt. Then again, Branch is the only Seattle wideout with more than seven catches through three games, so it’s possible Pete Carroll is looking for fresh veteran blood to jolt the position.

What does Stokley addition mean for Seattle?

Stokley will definitly bring some leadership and be able to mentor some of our young recievers like golden tate. No matter how long his stay lasts with the hawks he will for sure have an impact on our recieving corp. He is a well accomplished veteran winning two superbowls; one with denver in '99 and the other with indianapolis in 2007.
Props to the upper management this year for picking up two great players, Brandon Stokley and Marshawn Lynch

What does Stokley addition mean for Seattle?

Umm... beyond the fact that Largent was a true #1 and not "just a slot guy".  There have been other great white WRs.  Raymond Berry?  Belitnikoff?  ALSO.. don't forget the Wayne Chrebet, Don Beebe..  There are many white guys that played that role. Why do they all become a "Wes Welker"?  HE afterall came afterwards.

What does Stokley addition mean for Seattle?

Number one all you young morons; Steve Largent was  #1 receiver in Seattle catching balls from Zorn and is in the Hall of Fame. The rest are pure slot/possesion receivers, with the exception of Collie because he is still developing and based on last week could be a number 1 for Peyton during the final years of P. Mannings reign as the best active QB in football.

What does Stokley addition mean for Seattle?

The only reason that Brandon Stokley is the "last white receiver in NFL history not to draw comarisons to Wes Welker" is because Wes Welker was drawing those comparisons to Brandon Stokley, or did you forget that Brandon Stokley is 5 years older than Wes Welker.

Here is the liniage of the "white" receiver:
Steve Largent
Ed McCaffrey (the new Steve Largent)
Brandon Stokley (the new Ed McCaffrey)
Wes Welker (the new Brandon Stokley)
Austin Collie (the new Wes Welker)

I am thinking that Williams must be more hurt that we thought.  We will sure miss him if he goes out.  That dude is big, fast and pounds on the D-Backs.
