By now you know that Antonio Gates suffered an ankle injury against the Rams on Sunday. The perennial Pro Bowl tight end is scheduled for an MRI Monday. Early indications suggest the results won’t be good. Gates was in a walking boot Sunday night.
What has not been as publicized is the injury to Malcom Floyd. The Chargers’ top wide receiver left Sunday’s game in the third quarter with a hamstring injury.
Not much is known about Floyd’s injury, though the North County Times says that Norv Turner does not believe it is a muscle pull. (That can be interpreted as a glass half full or a glass half empty – up to you.)
The Chargers entered Week 6 without Legedu Naanee (hamstring). If Floyd is unavailable, San Diego’s top two wideouts could be Patrick Crayton and Craig Davis.
