Childress informed Shiancoe should have scored

On Sunday night, a curious decision to overturn Visanthe Shiancoe's 17-yard touchdown from Brett Favre midway through the second half, following a Mike McCarthy challenge, cost the Vikings four points and theoretically the game.

The NFL admitted on Monday that overturning the touchdown call was the incorrect move.

Brad Childress, who called the game the "worst officiated" he's "seen in a while" afterwards, told reporters that the NFL informed him the replay call was incorrect and that Carl Johnson, the head of officiating, was "disappointed" that the replay decision was made.

It was pretty clearly a catch, too -- though the ball did make contact with the ground as Shiancoe dove into the end zone, he had possession throughout the entirety of the catch. Unfortunately, the NFL can't retroactively give the Vikings an additional four points, so they remain stuck at 2-5 with a superstar quarterback limping around in an ankle brace as they get ready for a trip to New England.

The NFL is a disaster almost to the extent that some games may be fixed. As far as I'm concerned there is no integrity. A billion dollar business with amateur officials. The NFL is a JOKE.

I find it funny the Viking fans are crying about the officiating while your two roided out DT's are dodging a 4 game suspension by citing a state labor law upheld by a publically elected official.  Since when did you guys start caring about the rules?

The game was horribly officiated. I could give two craps about who won the game, but the referees continue to be abysmal and the overturned TD was just highway robbery.

Can we all stop blaming the Minnesota loss on the refs? When your QB throws two interceptions that were the kind a freshman QB would throw in college not to mention the under handed throw he made in the 4th qtr that went incomplete otherwise that would have been taken back. Also, when your coach does not challenge a questionable TD catch when everybody who is watching that are Viking fans are screaming at the tv to challenge. Lastly, late in the second quarter when you have a chance to work your team downfield for a possible FG (remember Brad your team does not have a winning record and you A win) and you run out the clock. Well maybe if you somehow got into FG range then you would have only needed a FG to win. These are reasons they lost not because of teh refs. It just seems that these types of issues always infect losing teams. Is that a coincidence?

The fact that McCarthy used his challenges where as Childress just stands arrogantly silent when his player his telling him to challege a call (like the Andrew Quarless non-catch that he did not keep control) just shows where the Vi-Queens are in desparate need - a coach who can make the calls when needed and taking risks. The little General can't.

The only way to find out who won would be to fly all back to Green bay and play the game after the TD. No wait Favre has a stress frature. Oh well put in Jackson. He couldn't be worse. The lions blown call was at the end of the game, no question who won it, but to assume the Vikings would have won is silly. Every play call from that point on would be different, A different game.  Who Knows?

I agree with all but the "classic" Brett Favre remark, I am by no means a Favre fanatic, in fact, unfortunately, I am a Lion fan, but Brett Favre is one of if not THE best quarterback that has ever played.

Where are all the idiotic "stop blaming the refs" apologists ? I thought it was all the players fault and that officials can do no wrong?!

I guess I would be called one of these. But did the replay's that everyone is harping on needing more of make a significant difference here? I suppose it did, it sucked just as bad as the call by the ref that everyone is complaining about. Perfect example of what I had stated before, no system is foolproof because it still comes down to human judgement. And there is sure a lot of that to go around.
