Jerry Jones continues to say he won't fire Wade Phillips during the season. Posted by Josh Katzowitz

Earlier today, we brought you the Top Ten Halloween costumes in the NFL this year. Coming in at No. 4 was Wade Phillips, who we thought should dress up like Bernie Lomax from “Weekend at Bernie’s,” because, for all intents and purposes, he’s a dead coach walking.

After Dallas fell 35-17 at home to a mediocre-at-best Jaguars squad today, owner Jerry Jones might have to rethink his policy about not cutting loose a coach during the middle of the season. Perhaps, he should make sure Bernie Lomax/Wade Phillips doesn’t return next week for a sequel of an absolutely dreadful performance by the Cowboys.

They didn’t show any heart. They didn’t show any desire. They didn’t show much of anything.

QB Jon Kitna, replacing the injured Tony Romo, tried hard and completed 34 of 49 passes for 379 yards and a touchdown (he’s the first Cowboys QB not named Romo to throw for more than 300 yards since Drew Bledsoe did it five years ago). But first three of his four interceptions were the result of drops by his own receivers – one apiece by RB Felix Jones, WR Roy Williams and WR Miles Austin – and destroyed Dallas’ chances on offense.

Defensively, the Cowboys couldn’t stop QB David Garrard, who was a ridiculous 17 of 21 for 260 yards and four touchdowns, and RB Maurice Jones-Drew (27 carries, 135 yards). And you had to love the final Jacksonville TD of the game, a naked bootleg off the play-action fake in which Garrard just kind of strolled into the end zone to put his team up by 25 points.

So, if we’re blaming somebody for Dallas’ putrid effort, who do we point the finger at?

Unless you’re in the locker room, who really knows? But I know who will take the blame and who will lose his job because of it. That’d be Wade Phillips.

This is what Boomer Esiason had to say on the NFL Today before the 1 p.m. games began:

“What happened last week (a 41-35 Cowboys loss to the Giants) lays at the feet of one, Wade Phillips. I'm sorry, that is the reality of this business. If you ask me, if they don't turn it around now, I think it's a foregone conclusion that Wade Phillips will be out of a job by the time the season end rolls around.”

At this point, Phillips would be lucky to hang around that long.

Wow, feeling good about yourself? Too funny. I'm happy to see the Chiefs pull themselves out from underneath the doormat in front of the doggy door. But a higher than mighty Chiefs fan popping off, incredible.

It's alright though, keep kicking, Cowboy fans can take it and what goes around comes around. Wait I don't need to tell you that, you've been living it for quite some time. As for seeking medical help, I can only assume thats what you did to get yourself through the perennial misery that is being a Chiefs fan.

Hey on that note "go Chiefs."

Phillips; Are you kidding me?

As a Chiefs fan I know what it's like to struggle throughout an entire season. Sometimes its the players that aren't producing and sometimes it's the coaching staff. No better example of the coaching aspect then doughboy Phillips, this guy is an absolute JOKE as a coach. How can you possibly be this bad with the talent you have in Dallas? Wade Phillips in my opinion might possibly be the worst Head Coach to ever pace the sidelines. I feel for Cowboy fans that have to endure the fact that Jerry Jones is the biggest reason for the teams HORRIBLE SEASON, on a side note: I love that you are going through this. As long as Phillips is in charge the Cowboys will continue to falter. That being said, the reality is the NFL is so, so, so, so much better when the "so-called America's Team" is down and out. What a beautiful thing to see how a team can go out and spend all the money in the world and then amazingly fall flat on their face; Man I Love It. Regardless of what happens this season, our NFL lives outside of pathetic Dallas will be great; Seeing the Cowboys miserable and Jerry Jones in deep depression is what keeps us going day in and day out. Cowboys it's only going to get worse. For those of you still holding on to hope, consider seeking medical help.

Clearly there is an elephant of a problem. Somewhere somehow, someone takes responsibility. I don't see for one second this group turning it around. They invent new ways to be the 2nd best team on the field week after week. The players are playing soft, they look directionless and defeated on defense, thus it only gets worse before it gets better.

The coaching staff put this culture together and it will be the coaching staff that pays. It's old it's tired it's done, Time for Wade and Jason and the bunch to take some time off, a little reflection and reenergizing and who knows finding a way to resurface somewhere else next year.

The last thing this group of players needs is to start finding reasons not to support  and positively challenge each other and I think as long as the coaching staff stays thats the next thing to manifest bcause it's apparent the coaching staff is out of answers, particularly on defense.

Going forward the Boys will need to look at rebuilding the once proud offensive line and the heart of their defense. They look completely inept in the running game. The linebackers seem always a step behind and the middle of the field is defensed less and less.

Hope for this team starts with next years draft.
