Panthers lose Matt Moore for season

It will be harder for the Panthers to flip flop on quarterbacks during the second half of the season. CBS’s Panthers Rapid Reporter Steve Reed reports that quarterback Matt Moore is out for the season with a torn labrum (shoulder). Moore left Sunday’s debacle against the Saints in the first half.

One would think the Panthers would turn to second-round rookie Jimmy Clausen here, though on Sunday sixth-round rookie Tony Pike saw action late. Clausen was just 8/18 for 47 yards and a touchdown. Pike came in and finished 6/12 for 47 yards. John Fox has not said whether it will be Clausen or Pike starting under center at Tampa Bay in Week 10.

The Panthers also placed starting middle linebacker Dan Connor on IR with a crack in his hip bone. Outside linebacker Thomas Davis, who has not played all season due to an ACL injury, was also placed on IR.

Clausen did throw a TD pass.  It was a pick returned for a TD by the Saints.he did throw a touchdown pass earlier in the year, the problem with the Saints game yesterday to me was the team around him and it wouldnt surprise me if he lost confidence in his coach.
If he's better than Tony, the Panthers should hire you as an advanced scout. I wasn't even aware Tony P. had a sibling/doppelganger
hahaha, seriously though, i am not high on Tony Pike and really havent been since the Florida game where his team couldnt even compete with Tim Tebow and the Gators. I think Pike is a project at quarterback, Clausen has a chance to be good, BUT the coach needs to coach better and give him his full confidence and quit flip flopping quarterbacks.

At least Tim Pike looks like he has skills.

JC is crap, he will always be crap. At least Tim Pike looks like he has skills. The Panthers (John Fox) better stick with Pike if they know what is good for them.
i dont like Tony Pike, and the Gators are a good reason why. Look at that game vs. Florida and that showed he couldnt handle a good team. I think Pike i overrated, Jimmy Clausen now could be good IF the team actually plays hard and IF LaFell grows up and CATCHES the ball and GETS open. that's the issues, the recievers are the problem, they can put Edwards, Vick, McNabb in there and they ALL will suck.

Manning was not near as bad his rookie year. I've seen Panthers games this year, Clausen looked HORRIBLE.
have you seen Manning in his rookie year??? ADD to that, look at WHERE the Panthers started not one, but TWO drives. How can ANY rookie passer be good starting from his own 5 yard line twice!!!! Add to that, having the WORST recieving corps in the league, down 3 running backs and oh yeah, no confidence from your head coach.
They need a good TE like when they had Walls and another really good WR. Smith is no threat if you can double and triple him.
yep, very true. some people think Rosario is good, but mis-used. they DO need another reciever, i am still amazed that Carolina took LaFell over Shipley.

  • This just shows how bad Carolina's season is going. According to the article, Clausen threw a TD pass, but apparently only got 3 points for it.
