Don’t expect Giants WR Steve Smith to play for the next few weeks. According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Smith, who partially tore his pectoral muscle at practice last Thursday, will be out until early December.

"It's coming along slow," Smith said.

With the Giants placing WR Ramses Barden on IR Tuesday because of a foot injury, the Giants are in desperate need of receiver help. Featuring only Mario Manningham, Hakeem Nicks and Duke Calhoun, New York on Tuesday re-signed Derek Hagan, who’s made only 11 catches since 2007.

i don't think anyone talks about steve smith #89 anymore . #12 smith has earn enough respect and you would have known it if you stopped kissing #89 ass already. giants steve smith has a ring last time i checked and one of the best receiver in the league as far as moving the chain on third down comes. #89 is one of the toughest receiver ever i will give you that but talking smack with your team being the panthers..just stop it.

vick is playing unbelievable and very well could beat the giants but remember many thought the giants were the best team in NFC couple of weeks ago. i know dallas beat'em but it was a division game which are always tough games. eli's number at home vs on the road are completly different. for some reason he plays really good on the road so i expect a much better game from the giants.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I agree this game can go either way. Too much uncertainty week to week in this league this year. I think both teams are very good, but flawed in certain areas. So I was by no means saying that I thought the Eagles would win easily. I simply find it amusing that someone can talk smack after their team just took a nasty beating from a team that came in 1-7.

I never wish for other players to be hurt. That's pretty sad. Steve Smith needs to earn respect in this league? What league are you watching? How many Super Bowls has the "old" Steve Smith won? I didn't think so.

Oh yeah, what's the Panthers record this year? Oh that's right, 1 - 8. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Go G Men!

Read:

  • Smith's 107 receptions in 2009 shattered the Giants' previous single-season record of 82, set by Amani Toomer in 2002. Prior to Smith's breakout season, the Giants were one of 7 teams that have never had a receiver catch at least 100 passes in a season. Now there are six: Cleveland, Miami, New Orleans, the Jets, Seattle and Philadelphia.
  • Smith was the 1st Giants wide receiver to play in the Pro Bowl since Homer Jones in 1968 (not including David Tyree, who was the NFC special teams player in 2005).
  • Smith made one of the biggest plays of the Giants' 2007 postseason when he caught a short Eli Manning pass and turned it into a 12-yard gain and a first down on a 3rd-and-11 in the waning moments of Super Bowl XLII. On the next play, Manning threw the 13-yard touchdown pass to Plaxico Burress that gave the Giants their upset victory over New England.

Riiiight. Because they did such a fantastic job on Jon Freakin' Kitna. How could we ever expect Mike Vick to beat them....

Well, I'm not expecting anything because this game can go either way....however, I know that the Giants are due for a win against the Iggles after getting beat by them for the last 5 times in a row or something like that, and Vick cannot play to perfection for the entire season...sooner or later he's going to have a bad game and it just might come at the hands of a pissed off Giants defense.

Hey, John Freakin Kitna got the crap smacked out of him the first time he faced the Giants and then played great in the second game....it happens...if the Cleveland Freakin Browns can beat up on the Patriots in a given week, then any bad QB can have a good game now and then and make a great team look like crap.
