Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is dealing with a right ankle injury and probably won’t return to the Minnesota-Washington game.
The injury seems relatively minor after he got his ankle twisted in the pile following a second-quarter run, but he hasn’t returned to the game since. He originally limped off the field, got his ankle retaped, put back on his helmet and began jogging in place. In actuality, he looked ready to return.
But backup Toby Gerhart has been the one to get the carries ever since, including his first career touchdown – a five-yard run – to give the Vikings a 14-7 lead.
On the team’s latest drive, trainers put extra tape on the right side of Peterson’s shoe, but he’s no longer wearing a helmet. At this point, it appears that Peterson’s day could be done.
