The firing of Josh McDaniels Monday night leaves the Broncos with a significant hole to fill, if only because there's no one on the coaching staff with any significant experience, or the hot-name cache to warrant giving them a shot. However, it's been reported that the Broncos have named running backs coach Eric Studesville interim head coach.

The Broncos announced Monday that Studesville will replace McDaniels on an interim basis.

"I am very appreciative of the trust that Mr. Bowlen and the entire Denver Broncos organization have shown in me," Studesville said in a statement release by the team. "Although the circumstances that this opportunity resulted from are unfortunate, I am excited to lead this football team. We have a great group of players and coaches who are committed to finishing the season on a promising note and making our fans proud of this team."

Studesville, who played defensive back at Wisconsin-Whitewater, coached in college until taking the jump to the NFL with the Chicago Bears in 1997. Since then, he's coached with the Bears, Giants, Bills and Broncos, with three of those stints as running backs coach (or running game coordinator).

While u brought up a good point Bowlen will be able to get out of paying McDaniels due to the fact he was caught by the league "cheating". That is a breach of contract, yet there will be hearings etc., which will at least delay the results for at least six months to a year if he actually has to pay. The problem that lies ahead is finding a coach who can clean up the mess left behind.

The Belichick coaching tree just got pruned yet again.  Another coach fired, so there won't be a lockout?

Thought 1, Lance Bell really needs to get a grip on perspective: "Running back Lance Ball tweeted: “this the closest thing to Obama being elected president!!!” [via denver post]This does not even come close to comparing to Obama being elected president.
Thought 2, Well Bronco fans, we got what we wanted, Josh is gone. Now what is to come? With Bowlen paying for two coaches that no longer coach for the Broncos, how much money is left for a third and what kind of third coach will the Broncos get?
