Owens regrets comments about coaches (we think)

On Wednesday, Terrell Owens redacted his criticism of the Bengals coaching staff…sort of. T. Owens (US Presswire)

"I guess I shouldn't have said it," Owens told the Associated Press regarding his comments on the T.Ocho Show. "It was something we were talking about on the show. It was brought up. I gave my comments and my opinions on it, and that was that."

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis took the high road. “Unfortunately for Terrell, he gets criticized a lot nationally," Lewis said. "We all -- like he said -- need to do better, and we all have a hand in winning football games. ... We haven't done well enough. None of us."

At the end of the day, it might not matter because Owens and Lewis could both be gone after the season. Both are operating under expiring contracts. For Owens, his comments could be particularly damaging. He had to settle for Cincy’s lowball one-year contract during the summer because no team would take a chance on him. No team would take a chance on him because they feared he’d cause distractions like the one he caused this week.

Lewis actually addressed this. "In this case, no one was willing to bring you aboard for a long time and then we ended up doing it late, so don't hurt yourself in that situation as you go forward," he said, referring to Owens' extended offseason. "There's a lesson there and make sure. Unfortunately once we say something, we don't get the chance to take it back. We try, but we don't get to and it's too late sometimes."

When did guys who supposedly love the true rugedness off football get so sensitive? Sports in general are filled with all types of characters; T.O. is a character who speaks his mind.  Some think on it........... some speak on it......... This is football............ GET OVER IT.

Maybe someday (and, it probably won't happen until after his playing career is over) T.O. will learn to think BEFORE he speaks.  I'm not holding my breath.

TO regrets ticking off his coaches who should bench him for conduct detrimental to the team and possibly being benched therefor lowering his stats for the year which is the only victory this has been has a chance of obtaining this year and that is only because ochocinco is being double teamed and no one fears what TO can do.

He really didn't say anything that hasn't been said before. I think this has been blown way out of proportion simply because of who said it. We hear players, coaches, and owners say the same thing all the time. Give the guy a pass on this one. I don't like what he has done in the past but this is not on that level.

The sad thing is that he will likely be added to the HOF.  I don't care what his numbers are - he's done more to hurt his teams along the way and that can't be found in those numbers.  They should add a "Fantasy Football" wing in Canton for jokers like this.
