Fitzgerald is 'fine,' won't take concussion test

Earlier today, there was a lot of discussion about Larry Fitzgerald's experience in the waning moments of the Cardinals game against the Cowboys on Saturday.

Fitzgerald said he couldn't "remember much" about the game. More precisely, the end of the game, after Fitzy took a nasty shot but remained in the game. There's plenty of room for speculation about the wide receiver remaining in the game, but as Andy pointed out, it would have been hard to notice from the sidelines.

It's puzzling, though, that Fitzgerald won't undergo further medical evaluation; Darren Urban of the Cards' official site reports that the wideout is "fine" and won't be subject to a concussion test this week.

This isn't exactly a situation in which the Cardinals are heavily concerned with winning in Week 17 either, so it stands to reason that if Fitzgerald wasn't actually healthy and "fine," Arizona would make sure to run him through a medical examination.

Fitzgerald is 'fine,' won't take concussion test

Given all of the new emphasis on head injuries and protecting players I am a little surprised that, in light of Fitzgerald's comments that he can't remember significant portions of the game, that the NFL is not stepping in and mandating the concussion test.  Fitzgeral may be fine by now, and I hope he is, but you can't get hit hard enough to cause memory loss and not have some sort of a concussion, even if its a very minor one.  Maybe its possible, I admit I am not a doctor, but I would err on the side of caution were I  the Cardinals and Fitzgerald.  No point taking any unnecessary risk of injury here.
