According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, former Broncos coach Josh McDaniels will meet with Vikings officials Friday for a potential opening on Leslie Frazier’s staff.
One potential opening could be for the Minnesota offensive coordinator spot (and really, it seems rather unlikely McDaniels would take a job below the coordinator level, anyway).
For now, Darrell Bevell – the Vikings offensive coordinator since Brad Childress was hired as coach in 2006 – is still employed in Minnesota.
But already, Frazier has fired three offensive coaches, so it’s doubtful that Bevell can feel completely safe about his job. Especially if McDaniels – who’s already proven himself an impressive offensive mind – is coming to town.
And a little more food for thought: besides McDaniels, you know who else might like a new job? Denver's Kyle Orton. You know which other team might need a quarterback? The Vikings.
UPDATED (7:55 p.m.): Also, ESPN's John Clayton is reporting that former 49ers coach Mike Singletary also might interview with the Vikings for the vacant linebackers coach spot.

Report: McDaniels, Singletary to interview in MINWith the redskins probably cutting ties with Donovan Mcnabb, I'm surprised nobody is rumoring him to head to Minnesota. With an aging defense, and a win now mentality, the move makes a little bit of sense. Mcnabb has a couple decent years left in him, and it would give the vikings a chance to groom a quarterback rather than throwing an inexperienced QB out there, or Kyle Orton.

Report: McDaniels, Singletary to interview in MINI don't care one way or another with McDaniels or Singletary....but i like the idea of trading for Orton. This should guarantee that the Vikings revert back to their true identity: RUNNING TEAM. Hand off to AP. Screens to Harvin. Deep balls to Rice to keep teams honest. Utilize the TE more often. This would allow them to either draft a QB to develp OR use both #12 and 44 for OL and SS help.

Excellent! With Frazier already in place, and McDaniels running the offense, I can only be excited! These moves will guarantee that the Vikes are the cellar dwellers of the NFC North for years to come. Please hire McD.
