The return of Chilly?

Minneapolis Star-Tribune columnist Sid Hartman is reporting that former Vikings coach Brad Childress will interview for the Dolphins offensive coordinator job.

"I really don't know what I want to do," Childress told Hartman. "I may just sit out this year and maybe two years. But I've coached for 33 straight years and if the right position comes up, I'm going to give it strong consideration. I'm a football coach."

If Childress decides not to coach, he’ll still get to collect that $3 million-a-season salary from Minnesota for the next two years. To me, that’s a pretty good reason NOT to work for the next two years. But I'm not a football coach either.

"If there's a good opportunity there with good people, and that's the key, I'll coach again this year,” Childress said. “If not then I'll pass and do something next year."

It might also depend on whether Dolphins owner Stephen Ross would allow Childress the use of a private plane. That’s so Childress can fly to Mississippi whenever he wants to try to convince Brett Favre to come back for just one more season.

The return of Chilly?

There is something fundamentally wrong in getting paid $3 million for sitting on your duff.  I know some will say, you get what you can get, but with all the unemployment in the US and parents having a hard time instilling values into their kids, under the belief that you have to work hard to get paid,.....this couch potato sure does not help.

Sitting on your ass and getting paid $3 million per year for two years.  Man, there is just something fundamentally wrong with that.  So much employment in the US.  What kind of lesson is that to teach kids when it comes to trying to instill that you have to work hard to get paid.

The return of Chilly?

I'm sorry, but I really hope this does not happen.

I don't think Dolphins fans have much to worry about.

I cannot see Childress working with Tony Sparano.  Sparano does not have time to completely change their gameplan to a West Coast offense.  Not only that, but I don't think Sparano would be a fan of it.  He'll find a conservative play caller who wants to develop a strong running attack.  Even with the two year extension, I think Sparano feels the hot seat a little bit.

Luckily, I still trust Sparano.  I think he's made more positive moves/improvements than decisions to hurt the team.  I'm sure some will argue that.  I'm happy he gets another chance.  Hopefully they can bring the right personel in this off-season, especially on the O Line and SOMEONE at QB....

Chilly will relax and collect his paychecks this year.  Chilly/Sparano not meant to happen.

Go Dolphins!  (Hope that defense continues to improve. Cameron Wake, Karlos Dansby, the return of Philip Merling?)

The return of Chilly?

The Vikings won in spite of Brad Childress last season, almost entirely attributable to the combination of a great run D and an Offense led by Brett Favre's last season in the sun.Childress's decision to waive Randy Moss without bringing ownership into the loop, coupled with terrible in-game decisions, render him a coordinator at best. NO team should consider Brad Childress as a Head Coach EVER again. And... yes, I'm bitter!

The return of Chilly?

I'm actually hoping for him to make an appearance in Cleveland as new coach Pat Shurmur's OC.  Chilly is firmly in the Holmgren/Reid coaching tree and his experience (and similar philosophy) could work well in the Cleveland organization.

I see what you're saying about moving from head coach to OC being a step or half step down, but at Miami who knows? Ross might pull another Jerry Jones and he could be moving up in a year or two. Go Fins? Cool
