Last season the NFL decided to move the Pro Bowl from the week after the Super Bowl to the week before the Super Bowl. The idea was to take the utterly irrelevant All-Star event and make it just regularly irrelevant. It’s been an alright ploy, though a consequence is players from the competing Super Bowl teams cannot compete.

Thus, the league had to replace all of the Steeler and Packer players on the roster. So who did they tap?

For the Packers:

CB Tramon Williams replaced by Antoine Winfield

CB Charles Woodson replaced by Brent Grimes

FS Nick Collins replaced by Roman Harper

OLB Clay Matthews replaced by Brian Orakpo

WR Greg Jennings replaced by Larry Fitzgerald

LT Chad Clifton replaced by Donald Penn

For the Steelers:

OLB James Harrison replaced by Tamba Hali

S Troy Polamalu replaced by Eric Berry

C Maurkice Pouncey replaced by Jeff Saturday

DE Brett Keisel replaced by Randy Starks

Pro Bowl replacements for SB players announced

People complain because it makes them feel good. I see a LOT of satisfied people here. How about this? Take all the know-it-alls and malcontents from this site, and let THEM bash thier heads together. Great fun. Can't wait to see Snapper sit on Chefs salad, or however that h()m() spells his name. But he'd prolly like that.

Yeah, the Pro Bowl is the one Pro sport that least lends itself to an "All-Star" game.  It's even worse since it was moved to the week before the Super bowl. Last year they had to replace over 20 players I think. this year it's only 10.  The voting is pretty much a joke anyway, most guys get in on reputation.   Go Pack!!!!!

I may be the only one, but I love the Pro-Bowl.  I like seeing the stars get out there and have a good time playing with and against one another in a playful atmosphere.  I think it's interesting and entertaining, and I also think it's a great move putting it a week before the superbowl.  The two-weeks of re-hashed analysis and story-mining grates on my NFL-loving nerves.  The Pro-Bowl should ease that wonderfully.  Just wanted one of the non-haters to be heard.

Agreed!  A big waste of time and even more so, a week before the SuperBowl.  I am an avid football fan, and I don't even watch the Pro Bowl Game.  That says something!!   Plus, I always hated seeing a player injured in this "non event".

The Pro-Bowl is a waste of time.  The players don't want to play the game and some of them come up with mysterious injuries to get out of playing or in an effort to prevent themselves from getting injured in a game that means nothing.  Is the Pro Bowl even televised?  I wouldn't know because I never watch it or even make an effort to fit out who is televising it.  I understand they want to gove the best players accolades and let them showcase their talents, but most of the players you want to see don't participate anymore even though the NFL tries to force them,  this goes back to my earlier mention of Injury you can't force a player to play if he is hurt.

Just discontinue the Pro Bowl altogether.  Nobody watches it, the players don't care about it and it's a meaningless game unless one of them gets hurt.  NFL...just give them their monetary props for being the best of the best and call it good.

not a good idea to play the college kids. i am sure some potential top 5 pick , who has yet to earn an NFL penny and then blows out a knee in some totally meaningless game would also think this is a train wreck of an idea.

Fronk - I love that idea.  They can also change the name from Probowl to "Draftee Beatdown."  The commercial tagline can be "The NFL welcomes you before you earn your millions!"  I'll bet their ratings for that game would soar way above what the Probowl gets now.
