G. Williams (US Presswire)
Good news for Titans leading head coaching candidate Mike Munchak: Saint defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has pulled himself out of the running. Williams was supposed to interview for the position, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that he will instead stay in New Orleans. Schefter cited Williams' loyalty to Jeff Fisher and the Saints.

Williams also removed himself from the Denver Broncos’ head coaching search earlier this offseason.

Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell is still expected to interview. Doing so will satisfy the Rooney Rule (te Titans needed to regather in this sense after Ray Sherman decided not to interview). Fewell's interview could pave the way for a Munchak promotion in the very near future.

Earlier Wednesday we wrote that Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey is in the mix. The Titans have also interviewed their own offensive coordinator, Mike Heimerdinger.

But Munchak, who has been with the organization for three decades, is said to be a favorite of owner Bud Adams.

A Munchak hiring, however, would go against GM Mike Reinfeldt’s preference for someone with previous head coaching experience. Of the bunch who have interviewed, though, only Mularkey and Williams have previous head coaching experience. (Though Fewell was an interim head coach in 2009.)

Favre looks like that she does need really up-and-coming small to look making use of this fable. He's still left exactly as ambiguous any time you are able to ( space ) enable us to leave this important personalized stuff away from basketball!

You'll be back on the bandwagon when he turns it around next year.  I think he is a great hire and love his loyalty.  Typical bandwagon Saints fans.

I love them good or bad.
I just LOVE comments like this one.  I sincerely hope that idiotic comment wasn't aimed at me because if there's one thing this guy ain't, it's a "bandwagoner". Strictly FYI I was there when Dixon was fighting the fight just to get us a team, I was there when they announced the NFL granted New Orleans a team. I was in the stands at Tulane Stadium for their first home game, and I've not missed following them for a single game since that time--this is hardly the description of a "bandwagon" individual.

Oh, and I've been a huge fan of the Saints since--well, as long as they've existed, which is probably longer than you have. Simply NOT liking the decisions of ONE memeber of the coaching staff does NOT characterize anyone as jumping "off" a bandwagon--but then again, there's no "bandwagon" for me to begin with.  It's been simply the Saints wagon from 1966 and ever since.  For what it's worth, I gave him every benefit of the doubt, and think he has done some good things but somehow or other feel his defenses have become predictable--and the Seattle game was horribly coached by BOTH Williams and Payton.  I certainly still have faith in Payton's capabilities; but I've come to doubt Williams' for quite some time.  It could well be he'll have a great year next year--for the sake of the SAINTS, I dearly hope he does. But trust to this: I won't be "back" on anything--because I've never abandoned them--even when others were wearing bags over their heads!

He got the saints a superbowl enough said.

And here I was thinking that umpteen other coaches and all the players had something to do with it!  Thanks for clearing that up---so now we all know that it was "Williams" who "got the Saints a Super Bowl"....

ummmm nope, not enough said.

I second that emotion.  Some Saints fans might disagree; but I think Williams SUCKS!

Pretty positive the problem is ownership..  There really should be a mandatory retirement for owners...  Bud Adams is an old senile drunk..  Not that there is anything wrong with that..  He just shouldn't be in the position to make decisions that effect so many people even thought the team is "his ."
War Titans!
