Although he was busy Thursday asking a question to the Black Eyed Peas at the halftime performers’ news conference – it was on behalf of OCNN, and it was probably only the 50th-most ridiculous moment of that presser – Jets CB Darrelle Revis also found time to plead his case for Antonio Cromartie.
He told the New York Daily News that he wants Cromartie to return next season.
"I think there's going to be some changes," Revis told the paper. "I just think we need to keep the core group of guys to make sure those guys don't slip away."
There’s little doubt Revis and Cromartie make up one of the best cover tandems in the league. Revis, after a slow start to the season because of hamstring injury had a tremendous second half of the season, while Cromartie was up and down. Some days were good for him; some days were not so much.
But Revis wants him back, though Cromartie, who will be a free agent, will command a high salary. Plus, you have to remember the Jets gave Revis a tremendous new contract before this season. In the end, that might be the reason New York lets go of Cromartie after all.
"We need him," Revis said. "He's made a lot of plays for us.”

Revis wants Cromartie backSorry Rev, but in this league money talks. You played your card last year and got the big bucks and now there might not be enough for AC to get his, so poof he's gone. As the article said, he ahd an up and down year, but he'll play overall numbers in his contract talks, meaning he'll use the work you did to explain how you two play as a team, to try to get his dollars. But in the end, if it ain't there dollar wise, you'll be looking over to another team mate next year...............

Revis wants Cromartie backhmmm...interesting,
Darrelle Revis wants Antonio Cromartie back. Let me think of a way(financially) that the Jets could do that with their current situation. Are they really interested in paying 2 guys close to 1/3 of what's available under the salary cap. Maybe if you didn't force them to give you $20 mil a year they might be able to afford him! |
