Jets bringing Tomlinson, Connor back in 2011

The Jets went on a spree of cutting players Monday, releasing a number of big-name veterans. That group was thought to possibly include LaDainian Tomlinson, but it appears that Rex Ryan's crew will bring LdT back for another run in 2011.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Tomlinson won't be cut by the Jets. Additionally, John Connor (aka "The Terminator") will be the starting fullback in 2011.

Tomlinson was considered a possibility to be cut because of the depth at running back with Shonn Greene and Joe McKnight.

Of course, that depth also looked great before 2010 -- were it not for Tomlinson, there's a pretty good chance the Jets wouldn't have ended up in the AFC Championship Game.

He came into New York looking rejuvenated and provided a fantastic safety net for Mark Sanchez in addition to the only decent running the Jets saw for the first three-quarters of the season.

Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum clearly believe he's got -- at least -- one more good season of football left in him to make a run at a championship.

The Jets have played a very dangerous game. Letting Woody go could come back to haunt them. Let's hope they sign some of their "cuts" this spring. However, the good news is the Jet did not give up on LT. He is not a full season back. But he does not have to be with Greene and McNight. Glad to see some sanity in the front office.

Not sure how the Jets have "depth at running back" just b/c of Greene and McKnight, but glad L.T. is coming back. Hopefully McKnight can contribute something more than showing up for one meaningless game against Buffalo. They should turn him into a PR. Leonard simply can't afford to be back there returning punts, and the rest of the guys they tried were horrible at it.

Face it Matoumatou:

Gholston is a stiff.

Cut your losses and move on, he has had every chance and more.

I think this is a great idea to bring back L.T. it stabilize the back field with a proven veteran that the other backs can feed off as well as provide the leadership necessary on a team with aspirations of getting to the next level.

There are intangible things besides numbers that make a player valuable to a team. I think these are a couple of the reasons, that L.T. would be returning to the team.

He might not be as explosive as he once was but there are times when he is able to bust the hole like times of ole. He still have this season and perhaps next season where his skills might be utilized. There are a lot of good backs in the NFL, but none like L.T.

I am not a Jet fan, however, I do like the coach, the quarterback and the other running back Joe McKnight.
