Jamarcus Russell's Oakland house foreclosed on?

One of the biggest issues in the current CBA negotiations is the rookie wage scale. One of the biggest reasons the owners want a rookie wage scale is because people like JaMarcus Russell -- probably the biggest bust in the history of the NFL Draft -- once upon a time made $60 million.

Oh, and hey, look -- his giant Oakland mansion is apparently being foreclosed on! What timing!

TMZ first found the news and claims to have foreclosure documents, which seems like something they could easily prove. It also seems like something pretty logical -- Russell doesn't exactly have a track record for being either fiscally responsible, good at football, or in shape.

In short, his life's been a pretty big mess since Oakland drafted him and it doesn't appear that things are going to get any better for him, especially when he really becomes a poster boy for the NFL's argument about overpaying rookies.

Don't hate on this man. A lot of people fail on their shot at the BIG TIME. He will be able to tell his kids he started on an NFL team. Made $60 M at 24.  He has probably done more in this failing effort than most you will do in your lifetime (combined), even with the forsight of his folly.  Remember 200k is alot to you and I but its more like $2000 or even $200 to him.

Also, never forget he is more famous than you...so his reality show will probably make more money than your life's work :-)

Just my opinion.

I think you might be on to something there.  That sounds like a great idea for reality TV, or even a new FOX primetime sitcom. Too classy for FOX.

But as for JaMarcus maybe he and Ryan Leaf can get an apt together and but all the pain killers they want together. I can see it now JaMarcus would be the lazy ass husband and Leaf would be the nagging wife. haha now that is funny.

Is this really a surprise to anyone at all the guy was a one year wonder in college and the Raiders do what they do best make bad picks year in and year out so whats new. And nothing is going to ever change until they get a new owner or someone else runs this team. For those that did not click on the link provided, his house cost $2.4 million. That's it. I get that he has to pay agents, managers and taxes, but he could have paid cash (not literally a briefcase full of cash) for his house just from his signing bonus. Not that paying for a house in cash is really a good idea, I'm just saying he could have done it and still had $15 million or so left over, and that does not factor in his annual salaries.

It couldn't have happened to a better person. This makes my day. Now if only this CBA deal could ddrag out and bankrupt some shady owners like Mike Brown, J Richardson, and Jerrah Jones, this whole monetary fiasco the NFL has created for itself will be worth the lack of ball many times over.
