Revis: A lot of guys are going to get hurt

D. Revis says a lockout would be bad for the players' health (Getty). Posted by Josh Katzowitz

Jets CB Darrelle Revis has a unique perspective on timing and how a disruption in it can lead to injuries. Just like last season when Revis held out from training camp, only to be stricken with an injured hamstring when the regular season began, he’s worried that, if the owners and NFLPA can’t come to an agreement next week and the owners lock out the players, the players’ health will be compromised.

Especially if the stoppage extends into the months where players and teams are supposed to be participating in training camps.

"It won't work," Revis told ESPN.com. "Just looking at my situation of holding out and me trying to hurry up and come back and play -- say this thing carries on until July, I think a lot of guys are going to get hurt because we haven't been to OTAs, we haven't been in that mode of football. Yeah, you can work out, I was working out when I held out, but it's a different level."

For the past month or so, we’ve read all about how groups of teammates plan to work out together during a lockout, so they can keep as sharp as possible. But who’s to say how well that could work? Who’s to say the NFLPA would even allow that to happen?

That’s why, Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald said (speaking for just about everybody in the universe), it’s probably best for the NFL and the NFLPA to come to a deal next week.

"Hopefully the collective bargaining agreement is reached next week and we'll be able to do everything the same as we always have," Fitzgerald said.

Revis: A lot of guys are going to get hurt

Are you paying attention? The owners cant keep the tv money, it was just ruled by the arbitrator that they cant.  it has to go into a trust and dealt with in the next cba.  which is why the owners came back to the table in earnest.  I dont know if you are half retarded, but your post was slightly retarded. pay attention, get your facts right or dont post.  i know your ability to use google is probably limited so here is the link  good luck with having someone read it to you.

Revis: A lot of guys are going to get hurt

How many player's are gonna turn into the Pacman Jones' of the NFL if this strike goes on past september. We'll see headlines accross CNN, NBC, FOX and yes the NFL Network that read..."Local Football player's making it rain at local nightclub". We'll have a new crop of Jamarcus Russell's running around looking for cough syrup and forgoing their mortgages. Whaaat, could happen.

Revis: A lot of guys are going to get hurt

Well, as long as it gets done so Revis can get back to work on time for his sake. Lord knows we don't want Darrelle Revis to get hurt. So can everyone get the word out to the NFLPA and the owner's....well, who care's about the owner's, that Darrelle Revis wants to show up on time so he doesn't get hurt like he did last year after holding out on his contract that he signed. Revis Island...talk about over-rated. I'm all for the player's in this and support the stay of a 16 game season, but to guy's like Revis who have only been in 4 years, shut the hell up. Piss and moan all you want, but when it comes to listening to player's talk, I'll listen to the Charles Woodson's and Mawae's of the NFL before this jerkie.

I think if the players have solidarity they can hold their own camps and off-season workouts. Donovan McNabb held his own several seasons on end. Did it get him hurt, save him from injury. Revis & other players have to be accountable & responsible too for how hard they push themselves.  Like being a backup QB or reliever in baseball, you have to be ready for the call. The game is such that even with all the training camps, players go down to a season, even career ending injury. These players know what it takes, be like Roy Halladay or any other elite player and demand more from yourself. I just think these players can push themselves on their own. Definitely not full contact drills, but they can be in shape, just how hard they want to take it to ?

Revis: A lot of guys are going to get hurt

This is funny. Revis thinks it is alright for him to hold out. But be dammmed if the owners hold out. Sounds like somebody has a double standard.

So the guy doesn't wanna hold out two years in a row, what's your point. That donut in your avatar looks a lot like a certain number. You know the # of super bowls your cowgirls have won since 96. Oh ya but you guys do have a whopping 1 playoff win since then.

Revis: A lot of guys are going to get hurt

anybody that thinks the players are going to get paid if they miss a year is half retarded at best.... the owners on the other hand will get paid....

I doubt anyone thinks that the players will get paid with no season. As far as the owners still getting paid, well we know who the greedy ones really are. I just don't get the fact that the tv stations still have to pay the NFL with or without no season. Seems like another one of those one way streets that the NFL loves to set up. Player wants to hold out with a year or two left on his contract, the NFL says you signed a contract now live up to it. Another player gets hurt in year one of his contract, team shreds contract and cuts him the following year. There is a lot of fans on here against the players and it's mostly due to the fact that players make too much money. So to side against the players, these fans stick up for billioners. Makes sense huh. lol.
