N. Suh
Congratulations to Ndamukong Suh. The Lions Pro Bowl defensive tackle had such a great rookie season that he’s already in that class of athlete who gets attention just for saying something ridiculous.

Suh’s inaugural comment in the “attention for stupid comments” club (we’re open to changing the name to something crisper, so send suggestions if you have some) came on the NFL Network earlier this week. He was asked if the sky is the limit for the Lions. (Nice hardball question, by the way.)

His response?

"No question. I don't see there [being] a reason why we can't be 16-0, as long as we put in that hard work ... throughout camp and so forth, getting ready for that 2011 season. As long as we stay healthy and are putting in that hard work, I think we should be happy where we end up."

Not to pick on the guy too much, but if going 16-0 is all about putting in that hard work, then what does it say about the Lions’ work ethic last season when they went 6-10?

Wordsmithing aside, Suh is to be credited for at least bringing some genuine confidence to Detroit.

When it comes to stupid comments from athletes 9 times out of 10 they are in response to even stupider questions from the media.  I wouldn't want a guy on my team who didn't think the team could win every game.

I give him credit for being confident in his team. There is nothing wrong with that. The Lions do have a lot of work to do before they even sniff the playoffs. An OL wpuld help keep Stafford on the field next year.

Give him props, not demerits

I agree with people who are positive on Detroit.  He was asked a question about whether the team could be good/great, and he answered with confidence.

Mind you, 16-0 is ridiculous.

But you know what?  Look at New England - they went 16-0 and then lost the Super Bowl.

In Detroit there not bad mouthing Suh. There embracing his words and praising his James Harrison rip your head off style of defense. Honestly the Lions are on a 4 game win streak going into next season (Beat Green Bay and only lost by 2 at Lambo). Five of the loses were from playoff teams all within 5 points. Suh anwsered with the best answer possible 2 such a lame question. The question should have been "Mr. Suh How many QB's will u destroy this season?". ( THE SKY'S THE LIMIT )  GO LIONS!!!!

I agree with you guys, how can you slate a guy for having faith in his team. I think this article was written by a bored fan with a little too much time on their hands. Chin up Andy the drafts only 6 weeks away.

Should he have said, "I think we'll lose a few games next year" instead? What an idiotic question to ask a player. Every player expects to win every game.
