D. Brees (US Presswire)
The NFLPA decertification has taken place, and the aftermath is already underway.

Superstars Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Drew Brees are among nine plaintiffs who have filed antitrust claims against the NFL in the 8th Circuit Court. The other plaintiffs are Giants DE Osi Umenyiora, Chargers WR Vincent Jackson, Pariots G Logan Mankins, Chiefs LB Mike Vrabel, Vikings LB Ben Leber and Vikings DE Brian Robison. Also, among the players is Texas A & M first-round rookie prospect Von Miller, who is representing the rookies. (Nice -- and gutsy -- way to introduce yourself to the league.)

The players allege that the NFL conspired to deny the players' ability to market their services. This has been the players' silver bullet all along. After the American Needle vs. NFL case in May determined that the NFL consists of 32 separate entities, the league became vulnerable to antitrust laws. Separate entities cannot bind together to prevent players from working.

Expect the league to file a counter suit claiming that the NFLPA’s decertification is a sham. Per the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the NFLPA could only sue the league after decertifying.

Excellent...file your ridiculous lawsuit. No one cares anymore. We THE FANS WHO BUY YOUR STUPID JERSEYS AND CHEER YOUR WORTHLESS RECORDS are fed up. We've paid enough. Blow up your cash cow...we don't care. If and when you all grow up and settle your ludicrous demands for more remember this...it's we the fans who fund your silly little inconsequential lives. We've had enough....we will stay away in droves.

And another thing...we deserve a seat at the table too. We demand lower ticket prices, abolishment of licences, properly priced pre-season games and lower cost merchandise. Your league depends on TV revenue....we demand lower cable fees.

Go ahead...ask us our opinion. We're sick of being taken for granted and for being treated inconsequentially. We're the people who finance your pathetic lifestyles. Oh...and the next time some juiced up psychopath busts your head wide open we'll cheer louder. Caesar Goodell will simply give your concussed corpse a thumbs down and another greedy fool will be sacrificed for our pleasure.

Just read the release just put out by the NFL Owners. Pretty interesting stuff. Makes you wonder what the players really want. Read it when you get a chance.

"Superstars" have enough $$$$$

What a debacle!  Superstars / rookies vs. owners vs. us fans.  DeMaurice Smith needs to be put out to pasture as he uses this 'platform' for his own personal gains.  He refuses to negotiate and cannot be representing All players.  Sickening . . and even moreso is that there are those players that will be "compensated" since they earn less than $200K.  Hey, fans, how are we being compensated?  Plan on higher hot dog prices if you can even afford to get in the stadium!!

Nine players file lawsuit against league

I have been reading everyones comments just about all day. I am retired so I have time to do that. I'm 72 years old and have watched most of the great ones play. They come and they go. I would like to see each and everyone of them get a new deal on their pensions and other benefits, they helped make the game what it is today. In someways I think the game was better in their day's. But the point of this whole thing is you have to live within your means. If you played football 20 years ago you shouldn't expect to get the same thing the players are getting today.

I was in the teamsters union for over 30 years and can tell you at one time(note I said at one time, things change) a union was a great thing and I fully enjoy my pension check every month, but to make my point I have a friend that retired about 15 years before me and he is getting about a 4th of what I am getting now, and he accepts that, so to say the players of yesterday should get what the players of today are getting is a little unrealistic.

Now if the players should happen to give some money back(HA), and the owners in turn would lower ticket prices for the fans I would be behind the owners 100%. How many of you think that is going to happen. Ticket prices will continue to go up for this reason or that.

The players are the ones that put Butts in the seats, So who is the greedy one. I say both.

Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.  BEER anyone?

RE: firstchances comment"The owners and the players depend on us...and we are being hurt greatly.
Let's file our own class action lawsuit, any lawyers out there?"

That really would be an excellent idea and I'm all in favor. I wish somebody could come forward
to represent OUR rights and points. Would it be safe to say that we are the most intrega part of this
disagreement sine WE make the owners money and WE pay those huge salaries to poor little Tom Brady, Manning
Brees etc.

There is so much money out there and the NFL has been such a stable "business" it is certainly pathetic
that it has come to greed. Any way you look at it many points fall the way of the owners and polss will
show it as well. It would be good to remember baseball.....it has taken a long long time for the fans
to come back in the fold.

Demaurice Smith has said and I quote "I dare any one of you to show an economic indicator the NFL has fallen on hard times“
Interesting he should say that as the same can be said for the players....your salaries are very much indictative to the
monetary issue. poor poor players many of which haven't even graduated from college "they just attended."
These guys have been represented by a 47 year old that never played the game.

EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE should read the HOF great from my Buffalo Bills Joe DeLamielleure and his "open Letter
to Drew Brees on retirees and how this union was a sham to those who made the game great...Google it!
It will show you how and who Mo and his greedy warriors are really thinking of!
I think you'll find it at fourth and goal unites dot com
