There have been a lot of people calling for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to go ahead and get rid of cornerback Aqib Talib, who's been quite the distraction lately. Those people may feel justified with the news that felony arrest warrants have been issued for Talib and his mother.

The warrent is for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon - a second-degree felony that's punishable by five to 20 years in prison, and, per the Tampa Tribune , Talib is scheduled to turn himself into Garland, Texas, police later in the week. His bail has been set at $25,000.

Police have accused Talib and his mother of firing gunshots at his sister's boyfriend March 21. Earlier in the day, the boyfriend had been listed as a suspect in a disturbance, and from that incident, police charged him with assault and interference with an emergency phone call.

Talib's mother, Okolo Talib, turned herself in on Tuesday afternoon. Her bond was set at $30,000 based on a previous conviction.

This isn't exactly Talib's first "violent incident" either -- in 2008, Talib, a Bucs' first-round pick that year, got in a fight with Cory Boyd at the Rookie Symposium. In 2009, Talib got in a fight with teammate Donald Penn.

Offseason trouble
In 2009, Talib was also charged with resisting arrest and simple battery and was then suspended for the first game of the 2010 season.

Were the personal conduct policy currently enforceable, it's likely that Talib would see a significant suspension from the NFL for his problems in Texas. But for now, he'll have to settle with simply facing the legal authorities.

UPDATED (5:07 p.m.):
Buccaneers GM Mark Dominik just released a statement: "We are deeply troubled by the serious charges filed against Aqib Talib. Due to current labor circumstances, we will withhold any further comment or action."

Hey I assumed this was a very intriguing report many thanks for considering of it. You appear to be a particularly veteran writer.

EVEN if that is true and I say EVEN....They are hired security and people are tresspassing. NOT Tom Brady shooting....HIRED Security. Is this the best you can come up with?

LOL @ "even if it's true". You've heard of Google, right? It's not debatable, it actually happend. So, "hired security" should be able to SHOOT AT PEOPLE for not handing over PHOTOGRAPHS? Is that what you're telling me right now. Let Julius Peppers, for example, security guards shoot at papparrazi -- there'd be post after post of "thug" this and thug that. His "security" would be known as his "entourage" or "posse". Cmon dude, don't play the conveniently ignorant card. It is what it is. Tom Brady and all the other "all-american, apple pie boys" get a pass and the boys from "the streets" don't.

The cycle has to stop somewhere.  Obviously the behavior is learned from his mother and it has trickled down to him and his sister.  The sister is dating someone who assults her.   STOP THE CYCLE AND HERE"S HOW....CASTRATE HIM...TIE HIS SISTERS TUBES....so they cannot reporduce.  Because i don't want his kids assulting my kids!

All I have to say is, How hard can it possibly be to not get into a police involved situation??? I understand he has more money than he has ever had and has friends and family on the opposite side of the spectrum, but HONESTLY PEOPLE, it's not that hard to avoid this type of thing and there is really no excuse for it. So many people in society go through life without ever having any problem with the law other than traffic violations, and some of these guys just don't get it. For first timers and for lesser offenses I'm all about giving second chances, and even guys  that do the time and want to come back. But at some point, you need to stop blaming the people around them or their background and just blame the guy. Some guys are just not as moral as you would hope. Some people just don't get the point that this is bad enough to change your life, and unless you want it to do that, you need to change yourself first...

Nothing like a little mother & son gun play for some quality family time. This cat is on his way to being the next pac-man. the only good thing about this is that it happened in texas, give him the chair.
