Chiefs LB Mike Vrabel, one of the plaintiffs in Brady v. NFL , was arrested and charged with felony theft at the Belterra Casino in Florence, Ind., Pro Football Talk reported Monday afternoon.Vrabel

According to Switzerland County officials, Vrabel, 35, was booked at 5:28 a.m. Monday and released at 10:39 a.m. after posting a $600 bond.

Vrabel, a three-time Super Bowl winner with the Patriots, is a member of the NFLPA executive committee. A hearing in the lawsuit is set for Wednesday in federal court in Minneapolis.

The charge against him is a Class-D felony, the lowest-level felony in the state.

UPDATED (4:15 p.m.):
Vrabel's agent, Neil Cornrich, released a statement to PFT: "It was an unfortunate misunderstanding, and I take full responsibility for the miscommunication. I feel comfortable that after talking with the appropriate parties, we will resolve this matter."

UPDATED II (5:20 p.m.): According to Jason La Canfora of , "The matter involves a bar tab and some confusion over how many beers should be on it." It’s a minor issue that is expected to soon be resolved with a "dismissal for want of prosecution."

UPDATED III (5:25 p.m.): KMBC 9 News  in Missouri has other details that are related but subtly contrasting: "Indiana Gaming Commission Director of Enforcement Kenny Rowan said Vrabel was observed by an enforcement agent taking the bottles of alcohol from a deli without paying for them. He said Vrabel was very cooperative during the investigation and posed no problems during the arrest."

Vrabel was traded from the Pats to the Chiefs before the 2009 season and was a starter on the team last season that won the AFC West title.

"We are aware of the reports regarding Mike Vrabel, but we are not permitted to have contact with Mike at this time," the Chiefs said in a statement. "We understand that Mike has communicated publicly that the matter is a misunderstanding for which he takes full responsibility. We hope it is resolved for Mike in a positive way."

The only RACIST thing about this article is that if it were a BLACK PLAYER who did this there would be WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

more derogatory hateful remarks.  LIKE 65% 0F THEM. Half of Vrabel's comments say he did nothing wrong.  Maybe 10% are bad.  A black man could NEVER steal something and only 10% of the public  say it was wrong.  NEVER!!!!!

fyi, we don't "all have to pay the same amount in taxes." The tax burden is not evenly distributed between poor and rich.  If we are all "fellow Americans" as you put it, why do some Americans seem to be more important than other Americans?  Why do women make less than men at doing the exact same job?  Just saying that not everything is a simple as your post seems to indicate.

The Chiefs should let him go for giving the organization a black eye.  Then the Patriots should sign him back up and he can retire in a New England uniform, and we'll give him all the Sam Adams he wants (or whatever his brand is, we won't be picky).

Since he was "white," if he said," I have a problem with my bar tab"...that "you people" are trying to screw me ( he would be talking about the "people" that work at the establishment... not black people twisting it into "something racist"...he would be referring to the "human race", AKA "people that work there." ) he would have been unjustly "raked across the coals" for uttering the "NOW" taboo statement of..."you people!" It used to mean, ALL of you people!!! This is including all of "you" homosapiens that draw breath and are included in an altercation of any kind???. WE, "US people" have to behave as one... turn down the music (even if it is coming from your @ss ) and pull up your pants... show some respect for your "fellow Americans" doesn't matter what "color" or ethnic group you are from. This is not a "cultural bias," we are all from the good ole USA!!! Treat your neighbor as you would want to be treated!!! And stop with the "poor me" statements that my people have been wronged... none of us lived back then and we all have to pay the same amout in taxes. Every racial group has been a "slave" at sometime over the cruel history of time, now let's all FINALLY move forward and abolish this once and for all. None of "US" living in today's age have ever known anywhere close to what it is really like to be a slave....except if you have to go to work everyday for a job that you don't love. And yes, you can get another job...but your family still has to eat!!!
