Chiefs LB Mike Vrabel, one of the plaintiffs in Brady v. NFL , was arrested and charged with felony theft at the Belterra Casino in Florence, Ind., Pro Football Talk reported Monday afternoon.Vrabel

According to Switzerland County officials, Vrabel, 35, was booked at 5:28 a.m. Monday and released at 10:39 a.m. after posting a $600 bond.

Vrabel, a three-time Super Bowl winner with the Patriots, is a member of the NFLPA executive committee. A hearing in the lawsuit is set for Wednesday in federal court in Minneapolis.

The charge against him is a Class-D felony, the lowest-level felony in the state.

UPDATED (4:15 p.m.):
Vrabel's agent, Neil Cornrich, released a statement to PFT: "It was an unfortunate misunderstanding, and I take full responsibility for the miscommunication. I feel comfortable that after talking with the appropriate parties, we will resolve this matter."

UPDATED II (5:20 p.m.): According to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com , "The matter involves a bar tab and some confusion over how many beers should be on it." It’s a minor issue that is expected to soon be resolved with a "dismissal for want of prosecution."

UPDATED III (5:25 p.m.): KMBC 9 News  in Missouri has other details that are related but subtly contrasting: "Indiana Gaming Commission Director of Enforcement Kenny Rowan said Vrabel was observed by an enforcement agent taking the bottles of alcohol from a deli without paying for them. He said Vrabel was very cooperative during the investigation and posed no problems during the arrest."

Vrabel was traded from the Pats to the Chiefs before the 2009 season and was a starter on the team last season that won the AFC West title.

"We are aware of the reports regarding Mike Vrabel, but we are not permitted to have contact with Mike at this time," the Chiefs said in a statement. "We understand that Mike has communicated publicly that the matter is a misunderstanding for which he takes full responsibility. We hope it is resolved for Mike in a positive way."

Article title is very misleading. Looks like nothing much wrong here, a simple misunderstanding about a tab, could happen to any normal Joe.
Those of you talking about race and the Patriots, wow, get a friggin life. Trolls gonna troll. Im surprised nobody has mentioned Brett Favre yet

Chiefs LB Vrabel arrested at casino

It's an Indiana law that casinos cannot give away alcohol for free.  Even if he didn't know that, & they wanted him to pay for drinks he may have thought were free, he still should have just paid for them anyway.  Why risk getting in trouble for the cost of a few beers that he may have thought were free.  Do people really not think.  Look at all he had to go through because he didn't want to pay a few bucks for a couple of beers.  Not like he can't afford it anyway.  Think people, think.  Speaking of paying a few "Bucks", seems like there have been a few Buckeyes paid recently.  You'd think he learn from the recent mistakes a few people have recently made from his alma mater.  FYI, I've actually been to that casino & it's about 40 miles SW of Cincinnati, OH.

ESPN's Bob (pain in the butt) Lay is reporting that Mr.Vrabel was distraught of his recent lack of production and helped himself to 4 bottles of White Zinfandel to appease the dwindling posse that follows this dude. Boston outlets are confirming that Vrabel was a "Patriot Misfit" that only the great Howie Long could come to his defense and stear this once leagondary figure into a life of relative calm!
