On Sunday, CBSSports.com’s Mike Freeman wrote “(Rex) Ryan recently raved about Moss, and despite what the Jets may say pub
licly, several league sources told CBSSports.com the team is seriously intrigued by Moss. That doesn't mean they'll sign him, but it's a possibility.”So what, exactly, did Ryan say?
“Randy Moss, I’ve said all along, is a great vertical receiver,’’ the head coach told Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe. “And you have to roll coverage. Most teams would have to roll coverage to him. We never did, but we got burned for a touchdown. But he was a weapon. A vertical weapon down the field.’’
With Santonio Holmes a free agent and indicating that he’ll play hardball in search of a long-term contract, there’s a small possibility the Jets could be in the market for a new wideout.
Moss, the guy Darrelle Revis once called a “slouch”, is available. At 34, his skills have mostly eroded and the Titans aren’t interested in re-signing him.
Is Moss worth bringing in? Well, Freeman basically covered it. (In a word, No!)
