Roddy White, for some reason, rips Alex Smith

Over the last four yearsR. White (US Presswire), Roddy White might be the most improved wide receiver in all of football. Once a bust, the former first-round pick has blossomed into Atlanta’s most dynamic weapon, racking up over 80 catches and 1,150-yards-plus in each of the past four seasons.

But in the NFL, no amount of success gives a player a free pass to take a random shot at one of his peers. That’s an unwritten rule throughout the league.

Thus, it’s bizarre that White would send out this tweet on Friday afternoon: “Why is the 49ers wasting their time with Alex Smith they need to move on better yet try to get luck next year would be good for them”

Though the Falcons have played the Niners each of the past two seasons, there’s no ostensible rivalry between the wideout and the quarterback. The best guess to explain White’s criticism is that thisis a case of a man forgetting that he’s a professional football player first and a fan of professional football second.

This is not the first time White has caused a stir via Twitter. This past season, before the Falcons’ Monday night game at the Saints, White trash-tweeted New Orleans, saying, "The grace of god gave them tht championship so tht city wouldn fall apart now and now they think they hot [obscenity].”

On that one, he later apologized for taking things too far.

Hmmmm, of the 3 teams that played the Packers and lost from the NFC, even the 4th team in the Steelers, the Falcons were the least competitive opponent and that was after a bye week. White did well, but perhaps his productivity is a by product of being part of a relatively talented offense, perhaps even a team defense that is conducive to scoring opportunities. I mean, 14 of the Falcons points came on a short field td and a kickoff return, outside of that they didn't belong in the playoffs, and that would fall on White's shoulder pads. To be honest, the Eagles have 3 WR's that would have his numbers on their team and 31-17 loss to the Eagles proves that. Couldn't stop DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and Jason Avant is better than Roddy White. They lost to Kolb, a backup QB. I mean really, look at the td to int ratio Kolb has of 7-7. Is it any better than Alex Smith's ratio of 14-10 ?

So the Falcons getting run out of the playoffs is on White's shoulder pads? That's not dumb at all.

White is better than every WR you mentioned. Jason Avant? Are you serious?

Jason Avant is better than Roddy White?   Have you been smoking those left handed cigars or are you just mentally handicapped?  I apologize in advance if it turns out you really are retarded, but hey, the special olympics are just around the corner.

Roody White is a talented receiver but somebody on that Falcon team needs to tell this guy to keep his mouth shut!

According to the records, the Falcons had a first round bye last season and then got blown up before being sent home early from the playoffs.

Personally, Roddy had a good first half of football last year & then disappeared down the stretch....
