Report: Mallett admits drug use to NFL teams

Apparently, former Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett has had some stunning confessions in the lead-up to the NFL draft. As Pro Football Weekly reports, Mallett has admitted to using drugs to prospective employers.

Yet, he struck a different tone while talking to KRJ radio in Seattle earlier today, when Mallett described why he felt he got a raw deal from NFL.com’s Albert Breer in a previous story that discussed some teams’ concerns about his off-field activities.

Said Mallett (via sportsradiointerviews.com) : “Because Albert [Breer] doesn’t know me. Yeah, Albert doesn’t know me and Albert’s never been around me. Albert doesn’t know what kind of guy I am. That’s why I love these visits, being around the team, so they can see what kind of guy I am and what kind of person I am because all these reports about all this other stuff is mind boggling to me. I don’t know where he gets his information, but to me he got false information.”

Which naturally transitions us into today’s PFW report about Mallett's supposed drug use. One GM told PFW’s Nolan Nawrocki that it was the first time he ever heard a draftee admit that, and a league executive told him that he wouldn’t take Mallett at any point in the draft.

For the record, Breer’s story ran in early January, and the mention of Mallett’s off-field activities was 17 words long.

Report: Mallett admits drug use to NFL teams

Show us one article where he ever denied it. He refused to discuss the subject when it was brought up by reporters. Can't blame him. Word around Campus is he has been seen smoking a little Weed, and has done a bump or two at a party. Typical College Kid. It won't affect him in the Draft, there are plenty of gifted atheletes that were busted for drugs in College or High School that went on to play in the Pros. He was never caught, just rumored to have partaken. You ever hear of a guy named Josh Hamilton? Plays for the Texas Rangers, look him up. I am an Arkansas Razorback living in Seattle, word is the Seahawks will take him with the 25th pick of the 1st Round. I hope so. I will be happy to share my B.C. Bud with Ryan anytime.

The pacific north west baby.He was probably offered some by someone on staff, let it all hang out here will draft you and it'll scare everyone else off.Lets just hope he's not using HGH like most of the bohemiths that seem a little out of proportion(check the Steelers roster), just good ol Mary Jane. Welcome home son your in the right place at the right time.

Posters here obviously don't get the issue.

Mallett denies that he did drugs for months.  Ripped the reporter for even mentioning it.

Oh, by the way, a couple of months later...."I did drugs."

He would have earned a lot more respect by admitting it in the first place.  Now his reputation and integrity are shot.

No wonder team(s) are pulling him off their draft board.

Well he is in quite a huge club of people that have tried drugs.
What sucks is that he's also in the very small group of people with enough integrity to admit it.

I have no real problem that he admitted drug use. Not that we know what it even was, but the below poster is right, a LARGE majority of college students use one form of drug or another. It's not the end of the world. Get over it. He did a little rock, so what??

Report: Mallett admits drug use to NFL teams

My fellow responders have a point, if all the kid ever did was smoke some weed in college then he's no different then 70% of the country at this point. The fact that he admitted it is alot more noble then the thousands of players who have blatantly lied about it in draft's past.
