Apparently, former Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett has had some stunning confessions in the lead-up to the NFL draft. As Pro Football Weekly reports, Mallett has admitted to using drugs to prospective employers.

Yet, he struck a different tone while talking to KRJ radio in Seattle earlier today, when Mallett described why he felt he got a raw deal from NFL.com’s Albert Breer in a previous story that discussed some teams’ concerns about his off-field activities.

Said Mallett (via sportsradiointerviews.com) : “Because Albert [Breer] doesn’t know me. Yeah, Albert doesn’t know me and Albert’s never been around me. Albert doesn’t know what kind of guy I am. That’s why I love these visits, being around the team, so they can see what kind of guy I am and what kind of person I am because all these reports about all this other stuff is mind boggling to me. I don’t know where he gets his information, but to me he got false information.”

Which naturally transitions us into today’s PFW report about Mallett's supposed drug use. One GM told PFW’s Nolan Nawrocki that it was the first time he ever heard a draftee admit that, and a league executive told him that he wouldn’t take Mallett at any point in the draft.

For the record, Breer’s story ran in early January, and the mention of Mallett’s off-field activities was 17 words long.

The SEC is loaded with thugs?  Take your SEC hating tiny mind to another board.  There are thugs in every league and Mallet's drug use hardly classifies him as a thug.

Another thug entering the draft.  SEC is loaded with thugs who parents  abandoned-  Mallett is  another bad apple and black for the SEC-  Now we see why his play was so inconsistent at times.

Whoever picks Mallet will be getting the best QB in the draft.  He has a rocket arm, confidence and good presence.  Now he just needs to learn the NFL game like every other QB entering the league.  So the kid did drugs.  Big deal.  He is a young college kid and young kid's experiment with social drugs, hell politicians use them with regularity.  Professionals own homes, luxury yachts, etc. and they do social drugs.  So Mallet admitting he has used shows he is mature enough to be honest about what he has done in life.  Plus the kid can flat out play football.  First round pick all the way.

him admitting should be a bonus. i promise you every single NFL prospect this year, and almost every year has done some drugs at some point in his life. well maybe not tim tebow but you get the point. every single one was. all this kid did was be honest about it. shouldnt that be an admirably quality?

Is the fact that is it 17 words long supposed to be a good thing?  If Breer is the one that broke this story, and he spent all of 17 words justifying an accusation like that then he is a terrible journalist.  If you can describe your evidence in 17 words, you are spreading rumors, not reporting.  They may be true, but you have to do better than that.

Check your own sources and facts, schmuck!

I just saw that you have way too much free time and while you took the time to pass judgements I took the time to point out that not only are you a schmuck  but a douche as well...

Just so you know, I've never smoked pot or used any other regulated drug for recreational use in my life.

But I have learned to have hatred for the general media and hypocrisy of such "journalists."

Because Mallett has integrity and doesn't lie, cheat and steal like many other players. NAMELY CAM NEWTON...among others.

Mallett gets bashed by hypocrits and fools, while the truly troubled are patted on the back.

Mallett is beyond average in talent, he is one of the best QBs seen in a few years, but yet, unwillingness to truly analyze football by the "experts" has tainted the media that the only person I've read that looked at Mallett accurately is the guy from the Sun Sentinel in Miami.  Thank heavens there are journalists still somewhere out there.

All because of the money train.  It's a shame America is so foolish that they don't hold "esperts" more accountable.

It would be nice for them to elaborate on the drug use.  There's a huge difference between someone that's smoked pot a few times and someone that uses heroin/pcp/methamphetamine.

If smoking weed counts as drug use then probably 80% or more of the people in the draft would say yes if they answered honestly.
