Shiancoe selling McNabb on Vikes over drinks?

In case you hadn't heard, there are a lot of teams with a need for a quarterback in the NFL. One of those teams is the Minnesota Vikings who, for various reasons, have been tied extensively to Donovan McNabb, should he become a free agent.

Well, as it turns out, at least one Vikings is working on selling McNabb on the idea of coming to the Twin Cities -- Visanthe Shiancoe, Minnesota's tight end, says he's been having a little "alcohol talk" with McNabb about the possibility.

"You know what, as a matter of fact, I seen him out the other day, and we had a little alcohol talk, should I say, a little alcohol talk," Shiancoe said on "Washington Post Live," per Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post. "And I told him, 'Hey, look, you know, Minnesota might be a good fit for you.' I think that he would probably agree on that. Who knows if he wants to stay here anymore, right, being in those circumstances? I don't know if he wants to or not, but I wouldn't want to stay here. Speaking for myself, I wouldn't want to stay in this predicament right here."

So, um, needless to say, the Redskins probably won't be pursuing Shiancoe's services any time soon, huh?

And there's no telling how they'll react to his comments, but the guess here is that they'll probably find some way to be upset. That's just kind of how the 'Skins roll.

There's also no guarantee that the Vikings end up landing McNabb, even if -- which is not that big an if -- he becomes a free agent. But it's pretty obvious that they're at least going to have a little bit of an advantage in pursuing the former Pro Bowler if the Redskins release him.

Unless Shiancoe's skills of persuasion just totally disappear when he gets near a bar.

Dugy, if you're going to criticize someone for being inarticulate, then be somewhat articulate yourself.

Shiancoe.... annoyingly unarticulate and for some reason can't seem to hear enough of himself.

I agree with "Rod Smart"...anyone who saw Joe Webb as a good looking prospect last year obviously did not watch any regular season games last year.  He looked awesome for one night and that was in the pre season against the Rams.

I wouldn't hate if the Vikes sign McNabb in free agency...he couldn't possibly play worst than Favre did last year...could he?  McNabb might have a better chance with them than he did with the Skins, the Vikes have the best RB in the league and an above average WR corp if the are able to re-sign Rice.  I would prefer to see Minnesota get Matt Hasselbeck and take a QB with 2nd round pick.  I was all for getting McNabb last off season but he didn't look very good in Washington so I would be concerned now.

In the draft I hope Minnesota takes an OL in the 1st round...preferrably trading down a few spots in the process, maybe adding a 3rd or 4th round pick.  Then "fingers crossed" hope one of the top 6 QBs is still on the board when their 2nd round pick comes.  Some people don't agree but I like Ryan Mallett more than any other QB coming out this year so I hope he is there and I HOPE HE IS WEARING VIKINGS PURPLE THIS FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

To be honest no one should have to sell their team to Mcnabb. He should be willing to go anywhere other then that death trap called The Washington Redskins. Since Danial Snyder has owned that team he has transmorphed into Al Davis!

Mcnabb's brain is too small...scientific fact...watched him for years in Philly and he lost him marbles.  He has no leadership abilities at gametime.  Does not stay within the game and does not know what all the chess pieces are doing. His awareness is lacking.  Who knows maybe he will do well in Minnesota...I just have no confidence in him (nor should you if you are a Minnesota fan...forwarned).  Seems like old pros like Shanahan and Ried concur.

McNabb is 6-1 career against Green Bay.  He threw for 357 yards in a win at Lambeau Field Last season.  I think that is reason enough to draw interest from the Vikings

Vishante Shiancoe always seems to have more headlines in the offseason than in the regular season... nice.
