Reggie Bush: 'It's been fun New Orleans'

NEW YORK -- It wasn't long after the Saints traded back into the first round that they drafted Mark Ingram. And it wasn't long after the Saints drafting Mark Ingram that Reggie Bush let the world know about his future.

In a not-so-cryptic tweet, Bush seemed to say peace out -- literally -- to the Big Easy.

"It's been fun New Orleans," Bush tweeted shortly before midnight EST on Thursday.

He also added an emoticon (you might know them as "the stupid smilies that my co-workers won't stop sending in emails") that was two fingers extended, aka "peace out."

To sum up: it seems like the Saints and Bush will be parting ways before the 2012 season. That seemed inevitable, barring Bush taking less money, but perhaps the ability to acquire Mark Ingram could mean that New Orleans won't have to even worry about paying Bush's potentially exorbitant salary.

The odd thing, though, is that Mark Ingram isn't a replacement for Reggie Bush. Because, um, Ingram's a running back. Like a real one.

That's not dogging Bush, really; he's just not a feature back. And he's lucky that he actually landed in a situation where a coach could manage to utilize his talents, because otherwise he might be in the big-time bust talk.

But the Saints won a title with Bush on the roster, so that's probably out of the question.

Given his statement on Thursday, there doesn't seem to be any question that if the Saints get Super again that they won't have Bush celebrating with the rest of the team.

Reggie Bush: 'It's been fun New Orleans'

Keep in mind the saints were at their best running game when they Had Deuce/Reggie Bush.  Deuce had his 1000yd season pounding the ball and Reggie could be that swing back utilizing his skills.  Ingram is like a McAllister type back who can get the yards and it also allows Reggie to be successful.  Reggie fits well in N.O. but if he goes its no big loss to them.

The problem is, the team is loaded with feature backs. Bush was virtually the only change-of-pace guy. He can anything - the others are just RBs. That's what Ingram is. Don't get me wrong - I think Ingram will be a star. But who is their change-of-pace guy now? Thomas? Does he really fit the bill in that department?

Reggie Bush: 'It's been fun New Orleans'

So out of 80 games (5 year schedule) he started only half, as both receiver and running back, ONLY accounted for 4000 total yards, scored a total of 29 TD's, with 10 TOTAL runs over 20 yeards  and only 16 receptions over 20 yards, and for this they are paying him $11 million dollars.  Let the bum go, Ingram will easily pick up his work load and you will automatically triple the integrity of the locker room.

I have no doubt that Bush will end up on a team and he will look very similar to how he looked on the Saints. But with an exception of a handfull of RB's in the NFL the position has turned into one where numerous backs are needed. I love what the Saints did in this first round. I wish my Giants drafted him instead of that bust Cornerback Prince. I think the Saints and the Packers are now the clear favorite in the NFC for the Super Bowl. That is if the NFL has a season.

Peace Out, Underachiever

Thank you, Reggie, for being a brittle, over-hyped, and underachieving enigma.  Thanks for that "look at me" moment where you flipped into the end zone (and thanks to the defender on that play, by the way, from restraining himself from stomping your overinflated head into the ground).  And thanks for endeavoring to be that 1500, even 1000 yard rusher.  Even though you consistently fell woefully short, we love you.

Reggie Bush: 'It's been fun New Orleans'

Bush is a bust and anyone that even thinks they know football knows it.  Look what he did in college compared to what he has done in the Pros.  He is a part time back that has to be treated like a receiver to get his yards.  He's the Vick of running backs.  Neither one of them fits into their positions but they "excel" because they can only do half of the job and line up at the wrong position to do it.  You put Vick or Bush lined up in the running back position and they would do nothing because the defense would be keyed to them.  He is not now, nor ever was worth the money he has been paid and we all know about his character, send him up to Seattle with the other liar.

Bush will still be in New Orleans next season.By drafting Ingram they now have a great inside runner, which means Reggie will be catching balls out of the backfield.Remember the Super bowl year ? Same senario. I would be real surprized if he bolts.
