Brady on Rex: 'As long as he hates me, I'm cool'

NEW YORK -- Fact: if you ask anyone about anything in the NFL, you have to ask them about the New York Jets and Rex Ryan.

And if you find yourself at an Under Armour Charged Cotton Draft Chat with Tom Brady in New York City and fail to ask about Rex, well, you're fired on the spot.

Not by Brady though -- it's pretty obvious he's answered his share of questions about the division rivals at this point and could talk about something else.

"My favorite subject -- let's talk about the Jets," Brady half-joked, half-complained when asked about Ryan's new book. "As long as he hates me, I'm cool. Because he's the leader of that team and the players take after their coach. They've had successful postseasons, you know, getting to the AFC Championship Game. So I'm sure we'll be prepared to play them when we do."

The beauty of that quip is like ten-fold. It contains the stereotypical "Patriot Way" quote ("I'm sure we'll be prepared"), it offers a little reverence to Ryan's role ("he's the leader") and success ("success postseasons") but it also totally takes a potshot at the Jets inability to win a Super Bowl under Ryan thus far.

That's not saying that Ryan is a loser because he doesn't have a title, just that he's guaranteed a lot of them, and still has three less than Brady and Bill Belichick. The real tragedy here, of course, is that no one got to ask Brady about the shocking third-round move by the Pats to draft Ryan Mallett.

More than anything, though, it's a reminder that we need football back ASAP, so we can go back enjoying the rivalries that actually take on the field.

Brady on Rex: 'As long as he hates me, I'm cool'

I lived on the west coast for a few years and everybody hated the Patriots.  And even more surprisingly, if you listen to the media anyway, there were a ton of Raiders fans.  I'd say the WC is mostly Raider Nation.  That speaks volumes of the crappy media but the passionate fans out there.

The media just front runs with whoever had success recently.  Real fans follow their team through wins or losses.  Raiders have a passionate fanbase, as do the Jets.  It's adversity that shows true character.  Meanwhile the Patriots?  New England didn't even know they had a football team until the last decade.  Everyone knows Boston is a baseball town...even though their baseball team sucked until the last decade too, until they finally broke through the Yankees (who since have won again, while the Red Sux have continued sucking).

I don't think the media will continue to support the Patriots.  If the Packers win another one, or if Vick leads the Eagles to one, those will be the two top teams in the media.

Brady on Rex: 'As long as he hates me, I'm cool'

Does anyone notice how much Brady looks like Pam Shriver (ex tennis player) with his hair tucked behind his ears in this picture? Just a little feminine looking.

Haven't made it to the championship game? You forgetting about the superbowl they went to.  This site is chalk full of ignorant pricks.  Always good for a laugh.

if the patriots werent cheaters the colts would have 2 more bowls and the eagles would have won one.. instead of bashing rex u should be bashing brady who aint made it to the afc championship game since they found out they were cheating.. i find that a little funny..

hahaha stats are pathetic.. hes 3-2 against the patriots lol.. guess what hes 1-3 against the fins.. does that mean fins are better.. no chance.. but agreed. until they win the superbowl or get in the superbowl.. stop talkin trash about the patriots who prove their worth year in and year out (trust me it hurts to say that)

in my eyes as a player nd a coach.. unless u win it all it was an unsuccessful season.. isnt the goal to be champions? or is it to almost make the superbowl
