  • … And speaking of places where Kolb might play next season, the Arizona Republic discusses how the Cardinals’ patience while waiting to sign a starting quarterback might just pay off. And maybe not taking a quarterback in the NFL draft was actually the smart plan all along.
  • From the Miami Herald, here’s the latest on the Dolphins QB situation: “the chances of (Chad) Henne being the regular-season starter for Miami in 2011 are greater than the chances he is replaced.”
  • The’s Jason La Canfora talked to some league insiders who rated the best performances of last week’s draft. The Buccaneers got high marks for Adrian Clayborn and Da’Quan Bowers, and the Packers got positive press for a number of picks.

i kind of lost u in your reponse post, but anyways:

i would not trade patrick peterson for anybody, let alon kevin kolb.
I wasn't even talking about the patrick petersen trade.
I was just saying that- i don't understand how teams value first round picks so much..
my example was the lions-  lest just says they had an offer for a NFL QB 10 years ago, and turned it down, and kept there first round pick.
and repeated that year after year... look where that would have got them?
instead they draft a LB #4 overall - as an example,  but guess what -- it won't matter with a crappy QB every year.  drafting that LB would turn out out to just be a waste anyway..

i love CB's -  i wouldn't trade Petersen at all... he is prob the best pick in the draft IMO.

i hope my Eagles get something good for Kolb tho..

And made a point yourself in saying that there are maybe 7 good QBs in the league. Why would you trade a 1st rounder who could become the 8th good QB in the league, for a guy who has been in the league and couldn't hold/reclaim a starting job?

@thad & company

I'm not a GM or a personnel guy...I'm just stating what has been factual for years and years.

The only relevant example I can think of is the Jay Cutler trade.

Cutler was an established "franchise" QB. The Bears gave a 1st rounder and a 3rd rounder to get him. Oh yeah...and they also gave up their starting QB, Kyle Orton.

Factor in a couple of things. Kevin Kolb has nowhere near the experience that Cutler did. The Cardinals don't have a starter in that position that the Eagles would want or need. Cutler was a starter and, love him or hate him (I can't stand him), proven team leader.

Another example would be McNabb going to the Redskins. This deals with the same team trading a QB away. This QB, McNabb, is older than Kolb and probably reaching the end of his career, but keep in mind 2 things. They were dealing with the Redskins, who will always pay excessively for the veteran player, and that McNabb had taken a team to 4 NFC Championships. They got a 2nd and a 3rd or 4th, which was conditionals.

If the Eagles end up shipping Kolb to the Cardinals, I'd bet my house that they don't get Peterson in return.  In all likelihood, it's Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a few middle round picks.

I'm not saying it's not worth a first rounder for Kolb (though in my opinion, it certainly isn't)..I'm simply saying that the Eagles aren't getting Peterson for him, and the "rumor" of someone offering their 1st rounder for him is ridiculous, unless it was the Seahawks and their late first rounder after their fluke playoff berth.

no one in there right mind would give a 1st round pick for kolb??
okay instead lets just stink for 14 years with a crap QB every year.. not talking specifically about Cards but just bad teams in general.
there are only like 7 good QB's in the league, so u might as well take a shot on Kolb....

i don't understand the theory of:
our team won't give up a 1st round pick unless were getting Peyton Manning? instead we will keep our first round pick each year, and stink for many, many years???? -  a la detroit lions
its just a draft pick- its a crap shoot

Whoever you're "heating Patrick Peterson for Kevin Kolb" from is someone you should either shoot in the face, or more simply, stop listening to for football advice. Kolb would have been worth a 2nd round pick AT BEST...likely a 3rd, in the open market. No one in their right mind is giving who they took in the early first round for him, nor will they give a first round pick next year.

Therefore, that random trade rumor you just made up...I mean you just heard...has no chance and is quite possibly one of the stupidest things I've read on here.

I am hearing either Patrick Peterson for Kolb, or some next year picks, like a 1 and a 4.  But it is all hearsay, I will nto believe anything until it happens.  But I love Peterson for Kolb.  Peterson is the sure thing of this draft, just like Eric Berry was the sure thing of last years draft.
