While the concept of a player-organized workout during the lockout seems like a great idea in theory – hey everybody, let’s work on our game to keep in shape, maintain our chemistry and camaraderie, and show everybody that we really want to play football!!! – Packers LB A.J. Hawk has a different theory about the effectiveness of such workouts.

Basically, he says, they’re not very useful at all.

"I've heard that different guys' workouts from different teams have just been a disaster,” Hawk told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “They're working out at bad high school fields and equipment and all that kind of stuff."

And that’s even if the high school will actually LET them on the field, right Greg Olsen?

Though the Packers haven’t scheduled any offseason workouts, Hawk isn’t worried about his teammates getting fat and lazy.

"We're all ready to come back. We never got out of shape," said Hawk. "The player gatherings are a good thing to get together and be with your teammates - that's the most I would take from it."

The Packers never made a trade offer to the Bills for Marshawn Lynch.  They stated they were happy with what they had at ruunning back and would let the season run it's course. Ted Thompson stated to the media that he had no interest in trading for Lynch.   Why with all the injuries at linebacker would they offer one in a trade for a running back they didn't want?  There is no facts behind your statement other then what you heard in the media.

I never heard anything of the kind.  A lot of pundits and fans were trying to trade Hawk for Lynch but last time I checked those people are not the ones who make the decision.  Believe me, If TT did not want AJ Hawk, AJ Hawk would not be Packer right now.  As it stands he just signed a new contract which the Packers hurridly got done before the lockout mess took effect and that indicates to me thatthey wanted him pretty badly.

As far as Hawks comments about the workouts I agree.  The guys who are going to come into camp in shape will be in shape no matter what.  They will do what it takes and if that means workouts with team mates fine, otherwise they will do it on their own.  The fat lazy ones will be out of shape no matter what.

Thank goodness we have something to read about.  Hockey is pretty cool, but unless your team is in it...Meh.  The NBA has turned into professional wrestling the refs are so bad....and players are actors:  flop, flop, flop.  Baseball is cool unless your team is the Brewers and then you get to watch Carlos Gomez bat before Braun and Fielder...man that really hurts my eyes and you know what they say about eyes and your soul.  So...NFL....I miss you even in the offseason!!!  We could have been reading about OTAs soon.  I could have been about Randall Cobb looking like (and acting like) a man.  That's right I'm dissing you Dez Bryant.  Anyway...a few random thoughts before my boss walks by my cube again.  Cube bitch has awoken (or is it awakened).

I'm not mistaken, the fact that the Packers wanted to trade him to the Bills for Marshawn Lynch and the Bills didn't want him, with the draft pick makes me to believe that the Packers were willing to get rid of him.. Are you disputing that fact!!!!

Players gathering together is more about solidarity than anything else. It's an opportunity for them to commiserate about their labor situation and their pending loss of wages. They are starting to get the picture that a lack of empathy is growing within the fan base for players and owners alike. If there is no season, where will these men take their specialized skill set to earn the kind of money they've grown accustomed to as NFL players?

I have a theory that very few NFL players would walk away from the game if all of a sudden their salaries were cut in half along with tickets, concessions, parking, etc... for owners.
