Bush draws criticism for 'relaxing' tweets

If Saints RB Reggie Bush really was trying to make a joke Monday on Twitter, he’d do well to remember one thing: sarcasm rarely comes through in that social medium.

On his Twitter account, Bush wrote “Everybody complaining about the lockout! Shoot I'm making the most of it! Vacation, rest, relaxing, appearances here and there! I'm good!” and “Right about now we would be slaving in 100 degree heat, practicing twice a day, while putting our bodies at risk for nothing.’

A few minutes later, he tweeted the following: “FYI last tweet was a joke! Relax people damn it's called sense of humor! Cry me a river why don't you.”

In between, Bush got lambasted by people because A) playing and practicing football was, you know, his job and B) they didn’t appreciate the term “slaving.”

But there’s potentially a larger problem at play here other than football fans getting upset about something so trivial that a utility running back off-handedly wrote. In the court system, the NFLPA is trying to argue that the NFL owners locking them out are causing the players irreparable harm, and that's a big reason why the District Court granted an injunction to lift the lockout. It’s a little tougher to argue that point when the owners’ lawyers can point to a tweet by Bush that says, “I’m good!”

Sarcasm or not, it just wasn’t a good idea.

To Obongo, Cowboy and Etmaniac

First up, eManiac88- You don't know me from the man in the moon so take you psychoanalyis and shove it up your......
Cowboynutshane-Pretty much, (for you I have another post I'm going to write, stay tuned)...
Obongosux-Here you are with a name DISRESPECTFUL of the current President...and YOU'RE offended?
I stand by my comments-far too many sports writers appear to believe it's their job to show athletes in the worst possible light. Virtually any anything any African-American does/says here lately is received, disected and rather deliberately misunderstood by these sportswriters in the most negative light. It's a form of control-criticize the devil out anything they sa/do with the idea of scaring the rest into submission.

You went both ways on your comment.  Why do we need 2 a days if you don't need to because you'll get "physical wear".  Then mention getting hit by Ray Lewis and it not being easy.  You can train all you want in the offseason and be in great shape, but the 2 adays are what get you into NFL shape and able to withstand the Ray Lewis face plant to the turf.  Some could say the off season regime gets your body ready to handle those shots.  You sort of disproved your own original comment.  Pujols is a great hitter but he still takes his BP and still does all his off season workouts, if he didn't he would no longer be the Pujols that we all know.  it translates to all sports and athletes dedicated to their team and their profession.

Bush draws criticism for 'relaxing' tweets

Between all the money he made in the pros and all his college cash, we all know he is all about the payday.  Yeah he has talent but he isn't the man you would want as a role model for future athletes.  I don't care if it was a joke or not, the fans aren't seeing this lockout and court nonsense as ANYTHING funny.  He was spoiled all his life and fed cash since a late teen, he obviously feels above everybody else.  Never liked the guy, at least Saints fans now have Ingram.  He is a class act and can wear his jersey with pride.

Actually if you look at what he said about messing up your body for nothing is right on the point. Granted you need to stay in shape and stay fit but there's no real reason at this point to be doing 2 a days if you don't need to. No wonder so many guys get flushed down the drain within 4 to 5 years of playing because they end up getting hurt or flame out because of the physical wear. Yet some people think pro players are getting off easy. Just ask those guys if when Ray Lewis knocks your block off if its easy. Or any other player for that matter. It takes a special type of athlete to play in a full contact sport like professional football and not some girlie boy sitting in the stand hollering that so and so sucks. My hats off to you Reggie and yeah you may not end up as Emmitt Smith or Walter Payton but you've did a lot and thats more than most can say

Reggie has his Super Bowl ring and got it early in his career really and he's got the cash from his career already. If he did everything pretty smart, he could be sitting on a pile of cash. Hard to tell but one thing, he's still better than half the running backs in the league. You would see him with a lot better numbers if they weren't using Brees to pass 30 to 50 times a game. He's not worried about it and yeah everyones on pins and needles over the upcoming season but there's still a couple months till training camp and when push comes to shove money talks and they'll hammer out something and by September no one will remember or even care about a lockout. Who are they going to replace the players with? CFL type talent? Cast off players? Come on, its just a showdown to see who has more pull and who has a stronger will. It will be all over when it comes down to the wire. Same with the Democrats and Republicans over their budget standoffs. Money talks and always has and always will at least in this lifetime.

Can't wait for the negotiation to end.  These article a getting rediculous.  Who cares about a tweet, let's get back to football.
