Mendenhall kind of claims he learned a lesson

It's unlikely that we'll grow tired of talking about Rashard Mendenhall on Twitter. That's mainly because he keeps tweeting, of course.

Like, on Saturday, when Mendenhall seemed to start off on an apology tangent (or a "here's what I've learned" tangent at least), when he decided to veer in a similar "outside the box" Twitter rant.

"I've learned more these last few weeks than some people will ever even attempt to learn their whole lives," Mendenhall tweeted. "Conventional wisdom is the new Jolly Roger."

What? Conventional wisdom is a pirate ship? That sounds like an Anchorman quote.

I kid, of course -- Mendenhall is making reference to the use of "Jolly Roger" to mean "poison" or "a hazard." In which case, he's actually making a fairly provocative statement, only he's doing it in an intelligent way. (Which is quite different than what he did the first time.)
Mendenhall

The point Mendenhall's trying to make is that he wants people to "think."

That's all well and good, and anyone who says they don't want professional athletes to think and to have opinions about worldly topics is playing too much into a stereotype.

But it doesn't change the fact that Mendenhall still needs to do that himself before he decides to pass along an opinion in a shortened medium like Twitter that doesn't provide much room for explanation.

If he really has learned his lesson, he'll remember that next time around.

What a sorry case Rashard Mandenhall is and the lowly Pittisburger Steelers are to by protecting this loser.

It was nice of the steelers to step in and apologize for him to help protect their brand.

Classic case of a guy who said what he wanted to say, no matter how moronic it was but bactracked after feeling some pressure from some of his inner circle for damage control.  Your right, he can't shut up and play football....but he can just shut up.  You did not learn anything and everyone knows you meant what you said.  No matter what we do in life....some people are just mean spirited.

Cool.  It's official.  No independent thinkers on this site.  I hate the Steelers, but I must say, his points are well taken.  As far as wanting him to "shut up and play football?" News-flash:  he can't!  Didn't you hear? There's an NFL lockout in progress!  That's why this is news.  Wake up, white people!

They say the US is a bunch of sheep with very few independent thinkers.  Let the sheep keep piling on Mendenhall for having an original question.

Anyone who feels the need to tell you how smart they are usually aren't all that bright to begin with.  Truly intelligent people let their actions/achievements speak for them.

Of course by stating he has learned more in a few weeks than some people will in a life proves he learned nothing, as seems to be the case his whole life. Better still is Will Brinson displaying that he isn't qualified to determine what is or is not intelligent. Mendenhalls rants are neither conventional or wisdom. Trying to say that his quotes, quotes of pure ignorance, are poison is ridiculous, childish, and the actions of someone suffering from severe deficiency. No intelligent debate could be brought by that thinking. It only produces the big bad wolf is out to get me because they are afraid of what I know... Truth is, people are embarrassed for those types of thinkers.

The point Mendenhall's trying to make is that

I hope the lesson learned is that he now knows he's not as informed as he assumed he was.  Just shutup, carry the ball, and don't fumble.
