Ochocinco thrown from bull in 1.5 seconds

NFL receiver Chad Ochocinco backed up his promise to ride a 1,500-pound bull on the Professional Bull Riders circuit Saturday night, earning $10,000 for making it out of the chute atop Deja Blu.

Ocho "only" lasted 1.5 seconds though. Actually, 1.5 seconds on a real, live bull is pretty good. But don't expect to see Ocho hopping back in the saddle.

"One and done," he said.

Ochocinco acknowledged that the Bengals probably weren't pleased that he was risking a career-threatening injury.

"I'm sure my coach was probably (upset)," Ochocinco said. "I mean, I would be, too. I'm sure the NFL is (upset), but I don't follow their rules anyway."

Ty Murray, a former world champion rider and a PBR director, coached Ochocinco the last two days at the Gwinnett Arena in hopes of preparing him for the powerful force of a bucking bull.

Murray compared the experience to a first-time skier attempting to navigate a run from the top of the French Alps.

"We practiced several crash scenarios today," Murray said. "He's a phenomenal athlete, he's very easy to teach because he's so athletic and aware of his body. But what he did was monumental and to try and ride a bull for 8 seconds with his lack of experience is impossible."

The decision to ride the bull was the latest publicity stunt in Ocho's offseason but he discounted it being any more dangerous than anything else he does in the workplace.

"No, every down is a risk to my career," he said. "Every time I wake up in the morning there's a risk to life in general. You never know what's going to happen. One of the things about me is I'm extremely interesting, I'm unpredictable and I am willing to do anything."

Ain't that the truth.

He's way too tall to ride bulls; he should have tried a bareback bronc ride. And BLITZ13, it's a chute not a shoot.

Congratulations Chad!  That is a lot of brute force to go against...  and took a lot of guts.  Now lets end this lockout so we can enjoy watching him do what he does best, playing football!

Just to have the testicular fortitude to get that bull is amazing. Im not a big Chad Johnson fan but this was awesome. I wish he could have stayed on a little longer, but then again he did get out of the shoot on the sucker. Im not sure I d have the guts to even attempt it.

I'm a die hard Chicago Sports fan but I absolutely love this guy.  He is pure entertainment.  Not only is he one of the best receivers in the NFL he is the most fun to watch.  The one year he had a posterboard going up against each cornerback on a weekly basis was brilliant.  He dominated that year.  Watching Hard Knocks when he kicked the extra point in the preseason game was hilarious.  When the ref told him "Child Please".  It doesn't get any better then that.  I love this guy.  His skills might be diminishing slightly but he is playing on a pretty bad team right now with no defense.

I can't understand why people hate on him either. Yeah, he's a little obnoxious, but most of the players in the NFL are a LOT obnoxious.  Dude just wants to have a good time and try different things.  He's not hurting anybody.

Some people on here must have such pathetic, boring lives that they've nothing better to do than bad mouth someone else.  Trust me, there are several players in sports that are much more worthy of the time spent bashing.
