NFL receiver Chad Ochocinco backed up his promise to ride a 1,500-pound bull on the Professional Bull Riders circuit Saturday night, earning $10,000 for making it out of the chute atop Deja Blu.

Ocho "only" lasted 1.5 seconds though. Actually, 1.5 seconds on a real, live bull is pretty good. But don't expect to see Ocho hopping back in the saddle.

"One and done," he said.

Ochocinco acknowledged that the Bengals probably weren't pleased that he was risking a career-threatening injury.

"I'm sure my coach was probably (upset)," Ochocinco said. "I mean, I would be, too. I'm sure the NFL is (upset), but I don't follow their rules anyway."

Ty Murray, a former world champion rider and a PBR director, coached Ochocinco the last two days at the Gwinnett Arena in hopes of preparing him for the powerful force of a bucking bull.

Murray compared the experience to a first-time skier attempting to navigate a run from the top of the French Alps.

"We practiced several crash scenarios today," Murray said. "He's a phenomenal athlete, he's very easy to teach because he's so athletic and aware of his body. But what he did was monumental and to try and ride a bull for 8 seconds with his lack of experience is impossible."

The decision to ride the bull was the latest publicity stunt in Ocho's offseason but he discounted it being any more dangerous than anything else he does in the workplace.

"No, every down is a risk to my career," he said. "Every time I wake up in the morning there's a risk to life in general. You never know what's going to happen. One of the things about me is I'm extremely interesting, I'm unpredictable and I am willing to do anything."

Ain't that the truth.

Ochocinco thrown from bull in 1.5 seconds

Chad Ochocinco is crazy and stupid for riding a bull and putting whatever career he has left in jeopardy. However you have to give it to him he have big ones. It takes a lot of courage to try something like that.

What's even better, is all this fun stuff he does, he always gives all the proceeds to charity and does a lot of things with the kids in Cincinnati as well.  I follow him on Twitter and he is constantly saying stuff like, I am at the movie theater, first ones here to fill it up gets to watch movies with me all day, and the guy actually sits in the theater with all these strangers with no security and buys all the refreshments and everything.  Seriously guys, there are a lot worse people to be haters to instead of Chad.

I honestly can't believe that people don't like this guy.  He is not the nasty, obnoxious, athlete like your Kobe Bryant and Terrell Owens of the world.  All this guy wants to do is have fun and give his fans a reason to cheer.  His bull riding skills leave something to be desired but it looks like he had some fun doing it.  In a sports world dominated by big business, lockouts, strikes, pressure, steroids, PSL's, greed and controversy, Ocho looks at sports for what they are supposed to  I have no problem with that!

Chd loves to have his fun and talk.....he hasnt backed up his comment that he can whoop and wants to fight Brendon Schaub....that would last a little longer than 1.5 seconds but not much more unless Ocho chose to run

Laughing  Wow, I can't imagine why Carson Palmer would want out of Cincy.  Every professional QB would just love to be on a team that's a circus with Ochocinco as the ringmaster.

I'll give him a B-, I was expecting him to stay on the bull for a little bit longer than that. Nice effort by a NFL player that never rode a bull before, at least as far as I'm concerned he hasn't.

Ochocinco thrown from bull in 1.5 seconds

Geez.  1.5 seconds on that bull was really good.  Most people would get 0.0 for being too afraid to attempt it and the with the way that bull moved, getting 8 seconds would have been nearly impossible!  Good job Ocho Cinco!

There really are some pathetic people who post on CBS.

Why are you going to knock Chad Ochocinco for doing this? I guarantee 99% of you people would not have tha balls to ride a bull!

I think it's cool that he did it, at least he backed up on what he said he was going to do.

Pathetic Haters just shut up!
