NFL receiver Chad Ochocinco backed up his promise to ride a 1,500-pound bull on the Professional Bull Riders circuit Saturday night, earning $10,000 for making it out of the chute atop Deja Blu.

Ocho "only" lasted 1.5 seconds though. Actually, 1.5 seconds on a real, live bull is pretty good. But don't expect to see Ocho hopping back in the saddle.

"One and done," he said.

Ochocinco acknowledged that the Bengals probably weren't pleased that he was risking a career-threatening injury.

"I'm sure my coach was probably (upset)," Ochocinco said. "I mean, I would be, too. I'm sure the NFL is (upset), but I don't follow their rules anyway."

Ty Murray, a former world champion rider and a PBR director, coached Ochocinco the last two days at the Gwinnett Arena in hopes of preparing him for the powerful force of a bucking bull.

Murray compared the experience to a first-time skier attempting to navigate a run from the top of the French Alps.

"We practiced several crash scenarios today," Murray said. "He's a phenomenal athlete, he's very easy to teach because he's so athletic and aware of his body. But what he did was monumental and to try and ride a bull for 8 seconds with his lack of experience is impossible."

The decision to ride the bull was the latest publicity stunt in Ocho's offseason but he discounted it being any more dangerous than anything else he does in the workplace.

"No, every down is a risk to my career," he said. "Every time I wake up in the morning there's a risk to life in general. You never know what's going to happen. One of the things about me is I'm extremely interesting, I'm unpredictable and I am willing to do anything."

Ain't that the truth.

Ochocinco thrown from bull in 1.5 seconds

I like what Ochocinco is doing with this. He's thumbing his nose at the NFL. Of course his team would be furious that he would do something like this during an offseason. But they can't complain to him now because of the idiotic situation the NFL is in right now. I didn't use to like Ochocinco very much but he's started to grow on me ever since that incident where he offered to "bribe" one of the referees with a 1$ bill during a review. This guy has no respect for the authority in the NFL, and I like that. That clip was pretty funny, I like his attitude of "I am a professional entertainer so my job is to entertain you." That is becoming a lost art in the No Fun League.

I hate seeing Chad do this kind of stuff to get attention, but I say go ahead until the lockout is over.  Who cares what he does?  It's not like anything is getting accomplished with this whole CBA mess.  Let idiot owners and players fight over millions of dollars and see how they like not getting a paycheck.  I'm sure eventually one side is going to cave, I'll watch NFL on TV, but never am I buying any tickets or NFL merchandise EVER again.

I think it's great what he's doing, it's not like he has a training camp or any event to attend, let the guy go out and have fun.  I do agree with most people that he does need to be center of attention but he has a life like all of us so let him enjoy it and do what he wants even if he makes an idiot of himself hahaha.  Nice try on this one though Chad

Blast him all you want...but I bet he got paid! Since your all soccer players and bull riders I guess your more of an authority than me but since the NFL has it's head up it ars, can you really blame the guy for using the media to his advantage? Get real guys...not like he has a taining camp to go too does he Mr. Goodale?

Say what you want about Chad.  It opens up many questions.  On this one, good job 85, you may not be a bull rider, but you gave it a shot!  I'm sure many say you are full of bullsh-t, but I like this one.  You are young and have a lot of money, so why not enjoy it!  Good for you Chad!

Yet another feeble attempt for Ouchostinko to get attention.  That's all he's about.  He has to be the center of attention, no matter how much of a jackass he makes out of himself.  He must have really been neglected as a child.

BTW, isn't the Cancer of the NFL due for another name change?
