NFL receiver Chad Ochocinco backed up his promise to ride a 1,500-pound bull on the Professional Bull Riders circuit Saturday night, earning $10,000 for making it out of the chute atop Deja Blu.

Ocho "only" lasted 1.5 seconds though. Actually, 1.5 seconds on a real, live bull is pretty good. But don't expect to see Ocho hopping back in the saddle.

"One and done," he said.

Ochocinco acknowledged that the Bengals probably weren't pleased that he was risking a career-threatening injury.

"I'm sure my coach was probably (upset)," Ochocinco said. "I mean, I would be, too. I'm sure the NFL is (upset), but I don't follow their rules anyway."

Ty Murray, a former world champion rider and a PBR director, coached Ochocinco the last two days at the Gwinnett Arena in hopes of preparing him for the powerful force of a bucking bull.

Murray compared the experience to a first-time skier attempting to navigate a run from the top of the French Alps.

"We practiced several crash scenarios today," Murray said. "He's a phenomenal athlete, he's very easy to teach because he's so athletic and aware of his body. But what he did was monumental and to try and ride a bull for 8 seconds with his lack of experience is impossible."

The decision to ride the bull was the latest publicity stunt in Ocho's offseason but he discounted it being any more dangerous than anything else he does in the workplace.

"No, every down is a risk to my career," he said. "Every time I wake up in the morning there's a risk to life in general. You never know what's going to happen. One of the things about me is I'm extremely interesting, I'm unpredictable and I am willing to do anything."

Ain't that the truth.

Ochocinco thrown from bull in 1.5 seconds

As soon as the gate opened, he fell off, they already showed this on ESPN.  He didn't make but .5 seconds at most, he didn't even really try...he actually got lucky cause he almost got stomped.  He sure showed some speed getting up and on the fence though.

Way to go chad, considering you want to leave cincinnati and join a different team, does this really seem like the best idea?  I've had the privelege of watching this idiot year in and year out and know that that he is nothing but a distraction to a football team.  He cares more about his off field antics than about winning, and his talents aren't even good enought to carry him anymore.

I really enjoy watching the circus that is Ochocinco.  He finds a way to keep himself in the media and the spotlight in a fun, exciting, and very entertaining fashion.  His antics may be a bit overbearing to some, but at least he's not in the news for drunk driving, domestic abuse, steroid use, or any other negative that you normally expect from NFL players.

... Is he insured while the lockout is in effect?

... Would he be contractually allowed to do this anyway?

Either way good for him man
